I pulled out a car that I haven't started in 4 years or so, ran fine when I parked it , but now it's singing the blues. I have low compression on #7 . Idles good, no smoke , start revvin er ,, and it's no problem keeping the mosquitos away. power seems good and not real noticeable smoke while driving?
OK,, so I assume sticky rings , I only done the compression test, no leak down test yet.
any miracle cures out there?? I read about Marvel Mystery Oil , letting it soak in the cylinder
any other snake oils out there that any one can recommend?
I really don't want to pull the engine for that?? BUT ?
comments appreciated.
OH ..and happy long weekend to all!

Pull the plug from that cylinder and rotate the engine until the piston is at the bottom and squirt some transmission oil in the cylinder. Let sit a couple of days then fire it up and let it run. If that does not lossen the rings then try some Lucas oil treatment. Sometimes the rings will free themselves up with just a good run.
I'm also told that slowly pouring some diesel in while it's running (careful not to lock it up), then let it sit a bit and then drive it. Sometimes that will remove enough crud to get them loose again.
Small block?
