Selling my 68 Parisienne 2+2 with a Big Block

Hi guys and gals (I hope),

Well, I think it's time to let the old girl go.

I've got a couple of kids in post-secondary education now and the
proceeds from the sale of this car will proudly support them.

If I get the "old car guy" withdrawals, maybe I'll pick up something cheap to tinker with, but for now it's time for someone else to enjoy this car.

Details :

1968 Pontiac Parisienne 2+2.
Original 396 (325 hp) engine with 92K miles.

A few things I've done to the car :

new base/clear paint (originally Verdoro green, now Aqua / turquoise)
new vinyl top
top end of engine rebuilt
RV cam
carb rebuild
both bumpers rechromed
hidden stereo in glove box
re-cored radiator
electronic ignition

etc.etc.etc.

Price : $17,500

I gotta agree with grande Jim and Daryl on this one guys! Scott, I truly also think you'll kick yourself getting rid of this car. Like we don't already know that eh? But if the times dictate it has to be done, then I guess that's all that can be done. Too bad you didn't have any other avenues to pursue instead of selling this beauty. Wish you all the best with whatever you decide pal. Gotta
be a tough call I'm sure. And I too am always dreamin' of that big 6/49 win too! The cars I'd have if I ever struck it rich!

Thanks for all the encouragement and concerns, guys.

I appreciate that I will miss the car and have regrets, but it will be replaced someday. Hope that isn't "famous last words".

Anyway, I've "crunched the numbers" over my expenses the next 2,3,4 years with 2 daughters in university and I'm still going ahead with the sale.

Don't worry. I'm not giving it away. I think it's priced fairly and realistically. As we all know, we never get back what we put into them.

A few other things I've done to the car over the last 5 years :

new exhaust
rear air shocks from a '70 Impala
new fuel pump
brake cylinders and shoes

I also have the original owners manual, protect-o-plate, build sheet and many service receipts back to the mid-70's documenting the mileage.

Regards,

Scott (LandShark ...)

Hi guys,

I'm bumping this just the one time. I've had lots of "tire-lickers", but no
firm offers. Seems to be the same for everyone. I had the car in the WAMBO car show on the weekend and it got lots of attention. At least people don't think it's over-priced. I've got it on Kijiji and I'll put it in Old Autos for a couple of issues. If I still haven't sold it by then, I'll keep it and have no regrets. One of the best things I like about it, is how unique our cars are. I've been to many shows with 1000+ cars and there is never another 68 2+2.

Regards,

Scott (LandShark...)
