60's Pontiacs and Buicks with Big Rims

You guys have likely seen this one before, but if not...

I imagine this dealer in Germany found a niche for importing full-sized 60's Pontiacs, slapping on some HUGE rims and selling for (I would imagine) a special price.

http://www.vintagedreamcars.com/US_CARS_4_SALE.html

About halfway down the above web page, some of the pictures link to more galleries.

Great for those moments when you're thinking: "I wonder what my ride would look like with 24" rims on it..."

biggrin

4 doors were more common in Europe and Australia so there isn't that stigma attached to them that we seem to have here. When I was younger I was really picky about not having a 4 door. Now I don't care. I'm having a blast with that 4 door 58 Regent I bought- flat 6 and all.
(Gawd, I must be getting old..)

I always yearned for a 2-door, but I found out it was a pain getting people in and out of the back seat when we went cruising (especially the girls - some pun intended) so the majority of the cars I've owned were 4-doors, and I loved them all.  I was seldom the guy with the "hot Mustang", and mostly "the guy with the car full of chicks".

I imagine that driving down the road in a '66 Ventura 4-door with 22" rims might turn some heads in Germany, as much as those little Smart cars did here when they popped up few years ago.  I guess common objects of disinterest become "the next cool thing" when displaced to another country.

Other things (like some of those bat-s**t crazy Japanese trends) should be contained in their country and treated like dutch-elm disease if found around here.

IMHO, of course. biggrin

My thoughts are 'gee, they all look very cool...except for the gay wheels'

The wheels don't do anything for me either. I wasn't a four door guy until I had my 95 Impala SS. Now I have 4 cars that are 4 doors. There is nothing wrong with a nice roomy car that will blow the doors off some kids rustang.

I don't mind a four door - especially a 61-70 B body wagon.

However, I do agree that the big rims don't add much to the cars for me.
