Got the rear lowered....

Well, finally got the rear of the 65 BelAir lowered. Took out the shock extensions and the spring boosters.  Couldn't take it for a test ride though, didn't have any shorter bolts to bolt the shocks tight.(got them tied up right now)  Now I have to take the twist in boosters out of the front s, and see how it sits. After I do that, I have to put my smaller rims and tires on though, theres very little clearance as it sits, and lowered the tires will hit the front edge of the fenders...
All this just in time to trade it off....Maybe, if the guy decides he wants to...LOL

Heres before and after and the "boosters" someone had installed, pics

That is excellent! It makes the car look much nicer. Gettting closer to looking like a sleeper rather than a hotrod.

RE: Got the rear lowered.... Now the Front's Lowered

And Now the Front is Lowered as well, Had 2 of the twist in spring boosters in each front spring....I think It LOOKS MUCH BETTER!!!!   It handles nice too.   Put a set of smaller tires on the front with some 7" rallyes....

Great improvement!

I remember the sky-high fad of the 70's with straight axles in the front and big spring shackles/lifts/springs in the rear. What were we thinking??? Those things were just plain scary at any kind of high speed. I swear my old '65 GTO was just about ready to take flight on more than one occasion and it definitely did not like to change directions.  I had a '64 Cutlass that was slightly lowered and the difference in handling was remarkable.

I'm surprised you had to go to smaller tires up front.  I have been surprised at how big you can go if your back spacing is correct (on an A-body anyway).

With the spring boosters in, and the wheels turned, I couldn't get a finger between the front lip of the fender and the tire. The width was OK, its the height of the tires, I forget what size, but the diameter was too big.
