Canadian Poncho Southern Ontario Summer Tour - August 22nd

Here's the plan all Canadian Poncho boys and girls. Mark off August 22nd now for a nice Sunday morning cruise and get together.

Destination: HMCS Haida National Historic Site Park, Pier 9 - Hamilton Ontario

Time: Meet and Greet at parking area in park at 10:30 am to 10:45 am

Tour Ship: Approx. 11:00 am

Lunch Time: Approx 12 noon

Mode of Transportation : Old Pontiacs, Acadians, Beaumonts & GMC's plus any other classic or even late model car. (We just want to meet and have good day)

We have been trying for a while to have a gathering so here's your chance, right in the Golden Horseshoe of Ontario, rich in Canadian Poncho fanatics. What better place for a bunch of old Pontiacs to gather than at the site of the only surviving WWII Tribal Class Destroyer, the "Fightingest ship in the Canadian Navy" to this day.

Group tours are available but we need to get support first, cost is minimal, $3.90 for adults less for seniors and children. It is about one hour drive from London and Toronto so we are hoping for a good turnout.

Lets see how many participants we get before we firm up details, but we might want to have convoys converging on the site from all directions, I suppose we could have Corvette escorts too in keeping with the theme. Picnic tables are available on the jetty which is grassed and treed so we might want to pack a picnic lunch or decide on a restuarant. This can all be decided in due course.

Right now lets see who is interested, so let us know by posting a response.

This is going to be a lot of fun and a perfect opportunity for us SW Ontario guys to finally get together with our cars and have some fun. I'm looking forward to a tour of this destroyer! Canadian Poncho ownership is not manditory.

MAP

HMCS Haida, Pier 9
658 Catharine Street, North
Hamilton, Ontario

If arriving from Toronto or the Niagara Peninsula:

Take the QEW and Exit at Burlington Street once you are in Hamilton.
Travel past the Stelco industrial complex.
Wellington Street is the signpost that John Street will be coming up soon.
Turn Right at John Street and follow it until it ends at Guise Street.
Turn Right at Guise to Catherine St.
Turn Left at Catherine and then right at the entrance to HMCS STAR on Pier 9.

If arriving from points north, south or west of Hamilton via Highway 403:

Follow Highway 403 to the Main Street East exit.
Proceed east on Main Street to the downtown core.
James Street is the signpost to tell you John Street is coming up soon.
Turn Left at John and follow it until it ends at Guise Street.
Turn Right at Guise to Catherine Street.
Turn Left at Catherine and then right at entrance to HMCS STAR on Pier 9.

 It's about two hours for me. Straight down Hwy 6. 
 I've always wanted to go to the Woodward Dream Cruise and it is on the 21st.
 I haven't decided if this is the year or not. If I stay as busy as I have been I won't have my car out of the trailer by then...... I still haven't got it out since I got back from Chicago  disbelief

It sounds like it will be a great time,If it doesn't rain you could count me in.I would like to meet some of the guys Because the only member that I ever met was Hillar .Todd if you have a XL t shirt and you don't mind to bring it to the show, I would like to buy one.Thanks. To the member that was talking about Woodward Dream Cruise I had a great trime every time I went. The cars are just amazing.

Mrs. 73SC also wants to come in a comfortable car so looks like 65camino will ride shotgun with me and Mary would come in the Cadillac or Suburban biggrin but I did hear her say oh well it is only an hour trip. We will see.

I have it marked on my calendar. My wife agreed it would be a nice day trip from Buffalo. I will try and drag out some of my buddies and organize a caravan from the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie.
