Yes, picnic lunches or lunch at your own discretion.

I got confirmation that we have a reservation under Canadian Poncho from 10:30 to 12:30 for a tour and use of jetty. Cost per person is $3.40

Let's meet at the site for 10:30.

How to Get There

HMCS Haida, Pier 9
658 Catharine Street, North
Hamilton, Ontario

If arriving from Toronto or the Niagara Peninsula:

Take the QEW and Exit at Burlington Street once you are in Hamilton.
Travel past the Stelco industrial complex.
Wellington Street is the signpost that John Street will be coming up soon.
Turn Right at John Street and follow it until it ends at Guise Street.
Turn Right at Guise to Catherine St.
Turn Left at Catherine and then right at the entrance to HMCS STAR on Pier 9.

If arriving from points north, south or west of Hamilton via Highway 403:

Follow Highway 403 to the Main Street East exit.
Proceed east on Main Street to the downtown core.
James Street is the signpost to tell you John Street is coming up soon.
Turn Left at John and follow it until it ends at Guise Street.
Turn Right at Guise to Catherine Street.
Turn Left at Catherine and then right at entrance to HMCS STAR on Pier 9.

It looks like the weatherman has been having a hard time determining the weather for the weekend. First I saw rain Sunday, clear Saturday, then a day later it's rain Saturday, clear Sunday now it's a chance of rain both days!

Weather site definition: A chance of showers, 25-50% chance of showers occurring. Implies uncertainty

In other words we are not sure it will rain.

Dual Quad Pete , 65 Camino and I plan to be convoying from the east.

What's a little rain? Sounds like light shows, not one of those torrential rainfall days we've gotten all summer.

Anyway, I have 3 cars with 6 adults and 3 kids coming from Buffalo. We are all bringing our picnic lunches. Will we need chairs or anything like that? What's the rules at the naval park and on the ship?

That is great Bill! I suggest bringing chairs, the jetty is grassed and treed but there is limited picnic tables. A good old blanket on the ground if not wet will work too!

I have never been to the site so with respect to rules on the ship, what were you asking about in particular?

I washed and gassed up the Laurentian last night. I also applied a good coating of Rain X to my windshield as my wipers are a bit "iffy". I'll have Poncho swag in the trunk so everyone bring a big bag of money.biggrin

My wife is looking forward to this. My brother in law is coming for a week to look after my mom in law so finally Connie can take part in these outings.

Not being familiar with the park, I just wanted to make sure there were no issues with where we could eat lunch or park the cars, etc...

Bill I have not been there but I am told we will have ample parking and we have a reservation for the jetty to eat lunch. The jetty appears to be a grassed and treed beside the ship. The staff seemed pretty excited about the prospect of old cars showing up, I mentioned 15 cars and that was fine with them. I suggest bring folding chairs and maybe a blanket for lunch time as there will not be enough picnic tables by the sound of it.

PS: the blanket may come in useful in case you are bringing any car parts over the border. wink

We should look around for a restaurant for lunch just in case it pours rain. If it does rain, I'd suspect there would be a smaller turnout which means a restaurant should be able to accommodate us.

Willams Coffee Pub is on the peir and very nice. Hutches Fish & Chips is by Bay Front Park and on Burlington St. there is a place called ( you will love this) Two Cougars in a Cafe

Updated Hamilton forecast:

Rain ending in the morning then cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm early in the morning. Wind north 30 km/h. High 22.

I am taking this as a more optimistic forecast tha\n what we had before. It says Rain ending early!

All this rain that was mentioned for our area was hog wash today!!!!! It briefly spit around here around 9:30ish this morning, and never saw another drop since then!!!! Todd, if the GPS fails, I have a MAP(my wife says it is my GPS) in the car!!!!hehe

This is the lattest from Environment Canada for Hamilton:

SundayShowers ending in the morning then cloudy. 30 percent chance of showers in the afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h late in the afternoon. High 25. UV index 4 or moderate.I think we are going to be fine in Hamilton, driving home might be different.
