Not cheap, but gives me a new appreciation for the Canso.

Ahhhh, Oui Oui. C'est tres fantastique!

I can imagine the phone call now:

-"Hello, you have car for sale"?

-"Bien Oui"

- "How much deal you give"

- "No deal monsieur"

- "I have a look"?

- "Excuse moi"?

- "Ahhhh forget it" CLick

Very funny... ( not )

A french speaking Canadian can buy a car in the rest of Canada, on EBAY, craiglist  or in the US but an english speaking dude is unable to find a way to buy a car in Quebec yet he makes a joke out of it...

If the guy has a car to sell, he will try to accomodate you by speaking in english if he can.

Do you really think we don't understand a word of english ?

Do you really think we can barely say a word in your language ?

Very funny but a nice Quebec fellow who couldn't speak any english figured out how to check if i could get a special tire for my truck on my trip and neither of us could speak either language in the same country. Pretty funny! A super nice guy in Montreal. I love your mikes by the way.

funny thing about Quebec I spent a summer there years ago and the thing that struck me was , everyone could speak english and french .. some not so well but still understandable . Now take any other provence and try and find someone who speaks French !!?? you would have to find someone thats originally from Quebec lol very few of us can hold a coversation french.
I can`t ! but i can sure cuss ;)

No shots intended here whatsoever. My dad and his side of the family are from Montreal. I actually tried to purchase some sheet metal from Quebec a couple years back, only to find myself lost in the conversation. My dad (bilingual) ended up making a second call for me and the 2 fenders I was calling about turned out to be rusted more than I would be willing to fix. Thanks for clearing this up dad.

Didn't mean for anyone to be offended by my made up scenerio. Maybe I should have mentioned originally that I've tried to bridge the language gap before and had my difficulties**.

I would be willing to bet Northern Ontario is at least 50/50 french english. Once your past North Bay you hardly hear a word of French. Funny thing about this is my son who we sent to a french school got his job with the Toronto Symphony because he could speak french. He hasn't had to use the French language yet after appx 10 years on the job.

tought it was a cheap shot at us...

Sorry if i reacted the way i did, a lot of time those cheap shots are the real deal and it kinda bothers me as we hear them often enough.

All is well in the Canadian poncho family then.

I found it rather funny too. I don't take it personally that I speak english.....

When I travel south of the border, I get picked out as being Canadian within the first few sentences of a conversation. Apparently we say "A" alot! Or is that eh? Eh?

Anyhow, just like owning Beaumonts and Acadians, I'm damn proud to be different! EH !!!

80% of my house hold right in Toronto is fluent in both official languages, I wish it were 100% but I admit to being the oldest and worst, I can get by but I can't say fluent. My kids have benefited greatly from this in obtaining governement jobs. My son works as a Park Warden in a very french part of Ontario, Penetanguishine area of Ontario just 100 miles north of Toronto. You are as likely to hear French in the small hamlet of Lafontainne and in Penetang as English and often both in the same conversation! Anyway many believe our habit of saying "eh" in English speaking Canada can be traced back to early French Canadian dialects so even what we might think of as a truly Canadianism could actually be French.
