My last 9 days of R & R....

9 days off! What's not to like about that???!!!

We started off with almost a week at an old family cabin on Clearwater Bay near Kenora. It has been with the Stevenson's since 1945. Since it's up for sale, we wanted to make sure we took advantage of the week that we could have there in 2010. 10 of us share it so time there is precious. Weather wise it started off pretty lousy. Cool, cloudy and the water was not user friendly for the 14' aluminum boat that's there. I run my little 20 HP Johnson on there and we were landlocked our first 2 days!

On day 3, a group arrived for a canoe trip that is an annual event. The town we live near (when we're at home) has a Youth for Christ Drop in Centre for the kids. Each year a dozen or so show up the week we are at Clearwater Bay. They put their canoes in at our dock and have about a 3 hour trip to my brother's cottage on an island. This year it was so windy (not visible by our dock since it's sheltered) that I had to pull the canoes the first 1/2 mile across the bay to shelter so they could continue to the island. One of the canoes flipped while I was towing it and of course there were two wet kids with wet camping gear!

The next day was better and I managed to find a couple of pickerel for supper! Yummmmm!!!

Breakfast on the deck once the weather smartened up!

Gotta feed the wildlife. I've loved feeding these cute little guys ever since I was a small boy going to this cottage.

Friday noon we had to vacate for the next group so off to our own place with the view I've posted here a million times.

Hey you guys from BC? Can you turn off your smoke machine please? Amazing as it may seem, this is a perfectly cloud free day at our place but the haze was so thick from your forest fires it even negatively affected our solar panel performance.

Today was much clearer. We had to leave this behind this afternoon. It was supposed to be 28 or 29 there. Back to work tomorrow.......

Looked like a great holiday! Wish I was making memories instead of money!

Maybe a fishing trip is order after harvest season is over....

Last night there, last 30 seconds of fishing yielded a real nice pickerel.

I won't even comment on how many fish we couldn't keep hooked. It was amazing how many got away this trip.

I have never left North America (except for Mexico) but yes, Canada has to have the most beautiful scenery (and variety) in the world. I can't imagine living anywhere else, truthfully.

Now we just need to keep our little secret quiet from the rest of the world!
