65 beaumont SD moves back to restoration place

well.. I finally got a chance to do something at home (calgary) and the deal I've made with the restoration guy is this..
I'm GIVING him the 65 SD convertible (283 - 2spd) basket case for finishing my Hard top.  that way I get rid of the POS that I paid enough to raise my son on.. and I get the HT done to actually drive sooner than later.

Here she is.. going back into the trailer for the road trip..LOL

it's good to learn..
I delivered the basket case today and I believe the restoration guy was both happy and overwhelmed with the car..LOL
He'll do very well on it I'm sure.

Chris Heighton is his name.. Heighton auto restorations is his game.

Ther`s a lot of body shops here that I would not pay up front till my car was finished. Soon as you pay, your car goes on the back burnner.

yep.. I've heard of that happening a lot actually.
This guy has been excellent.. and since i dont like to leave anyone on "the hook" I make installments as progress is made.. it's been a good relationship so far.
he just finished a 70 GS X car that was one of 8 known left to exist.. FULL restoration.. then the owner ran into some changes in his life and had to sell it.. i dont think he even drove it.

sold it to a US collector for 160,000.00

Sounds good Kelly. I think you've made a good decision as long as you found a reputable guy and it sounds like you did some homework!

We don't do these cars for the money, do we???

Hey Kelly it's good to hear that progress is being made. Even in this car business tough decisions have to be made at times but in the end I'm sure you will be very happy as this shop looks like a class act. It's funny after you're done and even though you've spent more than you would have liked to one drive and some compliments and it's all worth while. I remember one night a couple years ago my wife and I were talking a little about the car and she just happened to ask what the paint job cost. I just about crapped myself but didn't lie and told her how much it was. It was a little over twice as much as what I had budgeted. Her reply was well it sure was worth it. Boy there was a big sigh from me but I feel exactly the same. Hope to see you on the road next year.

The first time you drive your hardtop you will forget about any monetary loss on the ragtop. As a father of three I can tell you that time becomes way more valuable than anything else. Its way better to have your car all done, to take your family out for a ride when you get the chance, than to be using all your free time trying to piece something together with very limited time. I'm sure you could visualize the ragtop all done, but I'm sure you'll enjoy taking your boy for ice cream or to sports practice in your hardtop even more!!

I think your right.
It looks like we are going to be home owners here in vancouver..
we just had our ridiculous offer accepted.. when I say ridiculous, I mean due to the stupidly high prices here.
BUT.. the place a decent size yard with a paved dirveway and an oversized double garage I can make extra money out of.  it even has an I beam in it for hoisting stuff..
I'll never see the light of day again financially, and the car may be a payment down the road.
gotta love BC (Bring Cash is what I'm told is stands for)

What area are you moving too? Sounds like got your garage and that's a good thing. The neighbourhood we are in the houses range from 500K to 700K. If we wern't in the market 10 yrs ago there is no way we could do it. I couldn't afford to buy the property we have cold turky now. I know it's way more shocking over there. Good to here your staying in BC! After travelling Canada this year it's still the best.

Kelly
Nice to hear your your staying in BC.
My car sat for years until the kids got a little older. They enjoy going out in the car and seeing all the cars at a show or Tims on a Friday. Your little one will be in the garage with dad before you know it.

Never. He's a prairie boy and you can't ever take that out of a guy!

LOL!!!

I'm a prairie boy for sure... and I hope to be back there some day.
but for now.. the movie industry is happening WAY more here than in Alberta, and my wife is in a dept. that has no future at all in Alberta.. so .. she needs to stay here for film as well.

Chirs.. all the best on your lock up converter too.. I wouldnt be surprised to see the passenger door pop open soon.. if you could get all that torque to the pavement you'd probably gaina few 10ths .. or flip the car.. LOL.

Paul... yep.. the range you mentioned (500 to 700k) is exactly where we are at with the new place. The biggest thing that really pisses me off is the extortion fee the government charges here. PTT is a service that costs 175.00 in Alberta. I'm having to pay 10000.00 for the same service here.. it is absolutely Ludicrous how this government can take such advantage of the people here.

Carl.. we'll meet someday I'm sure.. I know I'll be travelling again someday.. maybe when the car is completed I'll do a cross canada tour in it.. Laughing yet again..

just started working on "final destination 5"... now that's funny
