I would do the top. Water inside a car = rust.

Oh,  for sure, if the top is in bad shape, then replace it for sure.

fix the little stuff , and drive it and enjoy it !!!

my 64 should go down for a fresh paint job, but I know that that would mean most likely never driving it again,, I'd get carried away...

Your car looks real nice , and kinda simliar to mine other than the soft top...LOL!!

enjoy what you have there..

definately needs a new top
and there is 2 - 4" holes in the floor (see pics close to mufflers)
there really is a LOTS of scratches and dents all over
i did a really good wax and it didn't help
the moulding around the windows need replacement since the metal is rusted and it has expanded (makes it difficult to close them)

Install the top,  fix the holes,  remove the dents, and have it professionally buffed....  You will spend 40,000.00 to restore it, and still have a 20,000.00 car   wink

I bought those wheels in 88, they are Progressive Champ 500, a cheaper copy of the Centerline Champ 500 at the time. they are 15 x 7 with 235/60/15 and 15 x 8 1/2 with 275/60/15.

need 2 jacks to put the back wheels on. lift the body high , then the wheel seperately. it's a pain ,,,but well worth it

here is a link to a few more pics of my car with a few different shoes on. I still have the wheels above, tires still mounted sitting on the shelf !!

Rog, quick question: exactly where does the factory tach go? We'd like to find and install one. (btw, great car and great story!! Like you, for some reason I just LOVE those full-size 64's!!

I would start with a budget and your ability to do your own work. This will decide what and how much to do to the car. I know this might sound crazy but I would buy another car that's a twin of this car and build it using your original car as a template. One together and one apart. Drive the one you have. It's way easier to put a car together 3 yrs later when you can compare it to the complete one. That way the restoration details are better and it will be very original looking also. I hate taking apart a shiny car.
