FM Converter

I have an under the dash FM converter I want to install on my 62 Pontiac with an AM radio.  To make it work what station do I tune my AM radio to?
Thanks

I had one years ago. Wasn't it about 1300 or something?

I have a working one that I took out of my car. Small little Audiovox one. I don't know anything about operating frequencies.
I remember they used to be super cheap (around $30). You could get them at Radio Shack in the '80s, I don't know about now.

It's a spot at the very high end of the am range like 1410. Best way to check it out is to tune the converter visually to a station number you know, then fiddle with the tuning dial up in the high ranges of the am radio until you get a signal, then fine tune the AM and the converter in that sequence.

These show up at flea markets on an irregular basis. I have friend who I have picked up a couple for. Usually under $10.
They do work but not with the clarity we're used to from todays modern systems ( remember they are still mono ). But are a period type accessory, if you don't want to spend the bucks updating your cars audio system to AM/FM/CD/MP3.

I have an NOS brand new Audiovox one still with instructions(NOT for sale)

It says to tune to 1400 on the AM dial of your car radio.

I thought it was somewhere over at that end of the dial. Just a few too many gray hairs to remember the number exactly!

This thread brought back some memorys, had one of those in my 69 Dodge Adventurer Pick Up, we thought we had hit the "big" time having F/M back then. I do remember being near the air port in Oshawa & you could listen in to the tower at one end of the F/M band, & yes 1400 was where you tuned the A/M radio

as an aside, what I picked up last winter was an FM converter that's the shape of an 8 track tape, and it goes into an 8 track player.

Yep I know Blackstock pretty well as we moved to Tyrone when 'high' school age..
What ever happened to that BB 'Vette buddy from the implement dealer had?.

It was you that was SM at Whitby Toy right?.
What years was that as I was SM at Durham Automobiles in the late 80's/early 90's when we were the M'Benz, Volvo and Mazda house..

And cool on the beaches thing!.
Is the 'Goof' restaurant still around?.
