Any of you guys get your hotels through Priceline.com., not bad pricing.

A friend of mine told me about them a little while ago so I tried them 2 weekends ago.  For you guys not familiar with it you get the chance to bid on what you'd like to pay for a night's stay.  You can choose what quality of hotel but you don't always know exactly which one you will get, just the area.  On some you can bid on a certain chain of hotels too.   For the first night in Vancouver I got one for about $25 less than what the best seniors rate I could get from their website.  The second night in Washington they wanted $120 on their site and I bid $70 and got it so got a little bit of a saving.  When I checked in I asked them if they had a continental breakfast as the States is alot better for this than us.  He said no but then quickly handed me 2 breakfast vouchers for juice and bacon and eggs at their hotel restaurant so all in all was a good deal.  Sort of fun when you bid you quite often don't get it and then you can try once more that day off your computer for a higher price or a different category.  If you don't get it you have to wait another day or go off your wife's computer.  The only catch is when you bid and you're accepted you've bought so you better make sure you're going, no cancellations.  I've had a pretty good record of making it to where I want to be over the years for accomodation so it's a chance I'm willing to take.  Has anybody tried it?  Just hotels trying to fill up their empty rooms for at least some money.

I've been on their site but always backed off from completing the transaction. The reason being just what you said, once you hit the button you are committed.
Our youngest has used them and a similar site on quite a few occassions and its always worked out ok.

Never heard of them but I may try it sometime when we are already in the US and need a room for the next night. Sounds cool.
