Starter or Solenoid needed 69 SBC

I need a SBC starter (or solenoid) for my 69 Laurentian. It has the THM350 in case it matters. I really only need a solenoid. I know it's no big deal but it would be nice to keep my original starter. PM me with your price with shipping to metropolitan Ingersoll, Ontario.

I priced out a new starter - $135 and it's a Bosch..

let me check  I had a xtra and had to get another for 4 speed bell    I have to go to Kitchener  sat morn    I could leave it on the side of the road in a box

Todd, I would stay clear of the Bosch unit if at all possible.

I think GM still has that solenoid available so you could likely get it through a local AC Delco store.

Or, let me know if you're not in a hurry..........................

 You can buy a new fullsize GM/AC Delco starter for $110 list! AC Delco #336-1823A or GM#88864304.

 Or put on the reduction type one for $260 list!! I have this one on my Rag, Coupe and my '70 with the 454 and spins like a damn!!! AC Delco #336-1910A or GM #88864291.

 This is providing you have the larger flywheel.

How about a FREE brand new GM solenoid? I've got one or two kicking around- I just have to find them.  How soon do you need it ? A week or so? confuse

Todd, do you have the OE Delco number off your starter? That would tell which flywheel you have.

 Easy... Starter with one long and one short mounting bolt straight across from each other would be the 6cyl or small ring gear. Two long and on an angle to each other, not straight across like the 6cyl one, will be the large ring gear. But being a '69, I am sure it should be the larger...

 Also note that the reduction starter will take shorter mounting bolts.... Like the 4.3's like in an S-10 and such!

Duh! What brain was I using when I replied and didn't know how to identify starters that way.

Bad Carl, bad.... Get back to the garage where you (I) belong....

When I installed  big bell housing for 4 speed, I had to buy a HD starter for 88.00 from Car Craft  

I have the "old one " which was working fine with the 350 turbo 

It has the longer attach to the solenoid, so its a HD  unit     

Approx cost  Tea and donut   and trip to Stratford, unless you want me to deliver it in the pumpkin

 Sometimes, the easiest solutions are the most often overlooked.. I know from being a tech, you always look for the hardest and most complex ideas about a problem than the back to basics simple ones!!

 But yea, bad Carl... Bad, bad! (lol)

I have the car as of nowbiggrin,  but have to take truck and trailer to Waterloo Sat & Sun to finish move hmm   Pumpkin will be gettin the miles next week
