I absolutely LOVE the '66 Ford Galaxie XL 428 or even 390 editions! Saw one for sale not that long ago that was black with the white stripe package and black interior and a 4-gear and surprisingly, the guy wasn't really asking BIG money for what the car was. I tried to convince my uncle to buy it as these are his dream car given he got his license in '66, but he said he'd wait until
he retired. Told him he's gonna kick himself as they don't come along every day for the price the guy wanted!

Attached is an original 1967 Ford advert showing an XL (they stopped calling them Galaxie 500 XL for 1967 although they really were Galaxies). The slash emblem on the front fender would designate either a 390 or 428, although a few (very few) 427 emblems were made for use on the mid-size 67 Fairlane.

A close-up shows it to say 428.

Still available that year but ignored in the marketplace was the 7 Litre package. The only distinctive feature that was unique to them was the 7 Litre horn button & the carryover 1966 7 Litre wheelcovers (see the green car)
