My thoughts are that someone came home with this and their wife said "why the heck did you buy that?  I won't be caught dead in that thing!" ,so the guy stores it and drives it when the wife isn't home.  biggrin

Really awkward looking piece of tailgate engineering!!!

I agree on the rearend!
Luckily they made only 200 of them ... RARE doesn't always = GOOD.

Collectible Automobile did a nice article on these Durango several years ago.

The design lends itself to the pick-up design perfectly. Ford should have put it in production.

Hmmmm, I think the comments from everyone so far on the money, so to speak.  But I really like odd ball stuff, so you don't see yourself driving down the steet as you may have the only one.  Can make a collection a conversation piece or what.  Anyways this one will be in stable in two weeks or so.  equal oppertunity collector.

When I was 18 I owned a 81 Fairmont. 6 cyl 3 speed. This car handled abuse more than any car I have ever owned. Logging roads included. I bought it for $500, beat the #$%^ out of it and sold it for $500 two years later....Great car!

I think it's kind of neat. Not $6600 neat, but neat nonetheless..

Well first off I like it. Some of you may know that 65camino is working on a Zephyr project right now and I have the grease under my finger nails to prove I am more than just a pretty face to.

Motor Trend did a one page review on this back in the day. About 2003 my son cut the article out of the magazine and put it on ebay. He got $48 for that single black and white page!

I hear what you say on the price Todd, but sometimes when a piece is rare, well you know the rest.  A couple years ago I decided to expand my collection to trucks.  So went on a hunt for the ones I wanted, have found them.  But did not know that ford built this truck.  A friend of mine saw it on ebay, found out it was the real deal.  So bid on it just because of it's rarity (200 produced), and this being a Califorina truck from new, thought always room for one more.  It's a sickness I tell ya no cure, not that we really look for one.

What other vehicle can you find at this price that is so unique, has a feature article written about it, and is so darn clean underneath? (A year or two ago I would have added that Ford might be the only US automaker still standing.)
My two cents is "well bought"...
