455 Buick


I know that this is not right place too find info on a Buick 455 engine heads, but you guys on here sure know your stuff..i'll give it a shot and see what happens.  Here's the #'s on top off the head with the valve cover removed..1231788 and a J25. Now on the manfoild it has 1233699....thanks.

I did some checking and there is no listing for a 1231788 head. There is a 1231786 which was a 68-9 430 head and a 70-72 455 head.

I checked 1233699 for both intake and exhaust manifolds and nothing came up. A 70 intake should be 1231718, for exhaust 1238094 right
1233451 left

Thanks Todd.. it's hard too make out some off those #'s..as far as i know the motor is a 455 that came out off a 70 Buick Riviera.
Just curious too what the HP rating is for this Engine.

Depending on the car they were in, they were rated anywhere from 350 hp (GS455) to 370hp in a full size Buick in 1970 although it is generally known the actual HP was higher. Torque is 510ft/lbs at 2800rpm! 1970 was the best year for the Buick 455. Any plans for the motor?

That sounds good..it's going in my 79 T.A.. The 455 Pontiac motor that's in there now is going to be rebuilt.
