I just got off the phone with John.. great guy..
he got it from an estate where the woman and husband (or boyfriend) split up and she wanted it GONE!!! she was getting it hauled to the crusher to get rid of it. But John saved it for 4500.00.. and thats all he wants out of it.

style - 73867 -2-3-1
paint A
trim 968
Body 834175
B70 C06 M35 T- R10 ? he's not sure about the last digits

sounds like more than a steal. I called early this morning and I was the 5th guy to call.. there are fights over it already.. LOL.. no kidding

he has the original bill of sale with engine number etc.. and power top manual as well.
one hubcap is missing but might be in the trunk.
it's missing the lense for the back of the console.... LOL... thats it.. that he knows of, but he's a mustang guy and doesnt really know chevy's..

WOW!!!!

all the best to whoever gets this car.. Jewel in the not so rough I think

A buddy of mine had one of these in the late '70's and kicks himself he ever got rid of it! I couldn't BELIEVE there was a "OBO" after the price of $4,500.00! MAN! No wonder there's a fight over it already! LOL! I can hardly wait if someone CAN get some pictures of it.

I saw this on Kijiji last night, about 2 hours after it was posted. I considered phoning but thought it would probably be too late and didn't want to wake anyone. I did however immediately send an email indicating I was very interested and asked for pictures. I followed up with a phone call to the fella early this morning. We spoke. A very nice fella. An ex bodyman. Knows that it's rare. Also mentioned that it had a couple of holes in it, but very restorable. (He also mentioned that it was a two barrel.) He said that he would be driving up there today and would send me pictures. Called him again mid afternoon. His wife (?) ansered and indicated that he was out of town regarding a car. Haven't seen anything yet. Curious to hear the outcome...

Big surprise the offers are more than the asking price now and our deal is void. Still no pictures and the guys changed his tune. He is now accepting offers. Screwed out of another one.

Here's my take on it.

First of all I agree 100% if you had a definite "I'm buying the car no matter what it looks like when I see it" deal.

However, I'm guessing this is probably not the case as we've never seen the car, nor pictures of it, and therefore it was probably a  "I'm very interested in it and if it looks as good as I hope it does, I'll give you cash and take it on the spot" agreement.

In both scenarios, if upon seeing it for the first time, the car turned out to be a pile of poo, I suspect you would either renegotiate or refuse the deal.  (I know I would.)   Therefore if it turns out to be a gem that commands a higher market value, shouldn't he be able to renegotiate as well?

I do think he was as fault for putting a $4500 figure as opposed to saying best offer.  (But if he put best offer without a price, there are many of us that would be angry that an asking price wasn't listed. LOL)

In the end, I'm glad the Ford guy saved it from going to the crusher, and ultimately I think he should get fair market for it, whatever that may be.   Hopefully to someone here.smile

I'm sorry, when a guy says," when can you pick it up" I figured it was mine. A full price offer too.. Whatever it's done and I'm over it. I don't know if anybody knows but as of now the fellow doesn't have the title for the car and had problems removing the car from the property. The lady wanted to sell it to somebody else in Quenel. I'm surprised that he would look for more considering the position he's in. He could still lose the car if the estate doesn't grant title to him. Granted I don't need another car, but it would of been a good donor for another project of mine. I'm still looking for rocker chrome, anybody? A nice complete 327 300HP motor would be on my list too.

If it was destined for the crusher, I'd be surprised if it is a "gem". In the long run, he may be wishing that he took your $4,500. I suspect the pictures may not be coming until he has title?...

He should have waited until he had everything in order before posting the ad.
