My new Ride!

Well guys....
I have done it again.biggrin. Picked her up a couple of weeks ago.

Got rid of my 71 Ford.
Got rid of my 68 Riviera.
Got rid of my gas guzzlin Ford P71. (which happened to be in 5 accidents when I traded it in I was told- he even showed me the car fax when I picked up my new car)

It ain't a classic. But it sure is sweet and much better than my gas guzzlin P71. It was either pay for the repairs for a P71 and pay the ton of money for gas, or have a little style, fun, better handling, less gas, nice car. Haven't even filled up the tank yet since I got her.

Did not go with a classic (because of the headaches involved)
Moment of truth... the colour is what got me by the way......

Nothing wrong with a good solid established grown up car.  It's a beauty.

Nice! Great driving cars! You will likely want snow tires though. They can be a bit hairy in the snow.

Snow tires for sure. I am checking out prices now. Anyone have any recommendations of where to go?
Last year with the P71, it was a mess in the snow.
The P71, also slipped in the rain. The caddy had much better traction in the rain then the P71.

Hey, cool CTS! I would love one of those. Winter tires will do wonders for it. I run 17" Firestone Winterforce (235 55R17) on my 96 Caprice 9C1 car and found them to be incredible traction for winter. Best winter tire I have ever had and they have lots of sizes for new cars. They lasted all last winter and will go back on again this winter.

When I was young, caddies were for old people. Now that I'm old, they're trying to sell them to young people. I guess I missed out.

Whats considered old and whats considered young?

As for winters, I was thinking Michelin Alpin PA3s?

Congrats.     nice choice

The Winterforce is a "better buy"  (I sold tons of them)  than the  Michelins  (Michelins are premium)

Congrats! When I first picked up mine, 17" rims were tough to find. As a result, I put winters on my 17" factory rims and put summers on a new set of rims. (18" on the front and 19" on the rear.)

TIRERACK  is where i buy all my tires, prices can't be beat even when in Canada
COSTCO does also have good prices on tires

I like Blizzak (spelling???)

That's a really clean, nice looking CTS.  The CTS I'm wanting is nestled in it's heated garage and won't be released for sale till January 2011. Plenty of time to shop for grips.

Congratulations!

I agree with you on TireRack. Always get a smoken deal on Blizzaks in the summer time. If you order steelies they mount & balance for free.I have a shipping address across the boarder where I pick them up.

I picked up my summer rims and tires from Tirerack. Those factory wheels make better snow rims (especially if the steel rims are still as costly as the were when I was looking.)

These are the ones that I bought from Tirerack as opposed to the steel wheels. (The front are the same dimensions as the CTS-V. The rear an inch larger in diameter. The reason I did that was because the trunk line is so high on the CTS that I thought it made the rear wheels look small.)

Not bad.
Only problemo is the cost, compared to the steel wheels I bet though.
