Will try to keep as short as possible. A friend of mine here has had a really, really nice 66 Chevelle convertible for the last 6 or 8 years. It was beside me at the Penticton beach show and has been at alot of B.C. shows. Light blue, fully optioned even factory air. He bought it at BJ for a good dollar, I'm guessing 60 to 80 g range. Has had it for sale off and on the last 2 years for 60 g. Of course not a whole lot of action at that price. He went to a very small car show in the B.C. interior the beginning of August and a guy came up to him and said he would like to buy his car. I'm not even sure if he had a sign on it then, I doubt it. Guy asked him how much so my friend said I have to discuss it with my wife. So nothing was finalized then but he was given the guys number and said he could contact him in Penticton on the way home from the show if he was interested in selling it. So he decides the timing was right so got in touch and stopped in at the guy's place in Penticton. When he got there he noticed that the guy had a few cars but his place was pretty well full so he made the comment that he would hardly have room for this car. Guy says "Oh this car isn't for me. I've had a laborer who has worked for me for 40 years and he has been one of the hardest working guys I've ever seen and he is about to retire so this will be his." Pretty neat eh! Guy owns a paving company in Penticton. I'm guessing he paid in the $60 grand range. That should make for a pretty happy retirement party. Have another story that I'll put in another post.

Wow. I'm only at 25 years. I wonder if I stick it out for another 15 years at my job.................??
That truly is a great story.
I have heard guys say the secret to running a successful business is to surround yourself with good employees. Obviously this guy did that and appreciated the ones he had.

First guy was a guy I played fastball with and against many years ago here in Kelowna and this story involves a friend who is one of my concrete reps and we've attended the same church. He did up a rod starting about 10 years ago and finished it about 5 years ago. Did a really nice job on it and had close to a 100 grand into it. Got bored with it and wants to do another one so it goes up for sale. Not sure what he got for it but he was shooting in the 70 g range. Gets a call from a lady in the States that is interested in it for her husband. She buys it a few months before his birthday and has it stored. Birthday comes along and they are going out of town to a restaurant for a birthday meal. She gets a guy to drive the car out there and park it in front of the restaurant. They get there and he sees the car and tells his wife he has to go over and look at this car. He admires it and they go in and have their meal. After they come out he tells her he'd like to take another look at it. They go over there and then she throws him the keys for it. Pretty good birthday surprise eh!
My wife bought me a beer fridge for my garage for my birthday last year. That was showing the rigth kind of support!
Of course she did stuff it full of tulip bulbs all winter but all I really needed was space in the door anyway!
I like that. Any gift they give us that is car related means they are supporting us. I got an ipod and a am-fm conversion for my radio and it got used for a lot of hours this summer.
