I cut the front end off the four door becuse it was undamaged and rust free,
then cut the front end off the two door( becuse it was damaged and rusted )
at the factory seams,im only one day away from finishing the fit and welding the new front end on .
Im going hard at this and it should be out of the s door gaps fitting perfect of course, lol)
GLAD to see you using I to fix another.. I have a friend doing the same, with a 66 L79 Acadian, and he been accused of doing something illegal, by welding in rust free Texas parts
Good job

Well friends ,still hard at her, trying to get her ready for the first spring runs and i think ill be ready (i hope, lol).I pulled the passenger door skin off ,gave it a good clean up anr rust proofed it and reskined it..I bought a good rust free drivers door with small dint to repair (nothing for a good barn yard bodyshop). Here are some new pics after Dale and i lined up door and fender gaps befor we tie up all the post and rocker and floor welds ,things are fitting near perfect.
Carl Stevenson, the passenger door is after market ,but is of good quailty steel and a very good fit,the drivers door is a factory nova ss door ,the x is to mark the dent we need to fix (remember BARNYARD BODYSHOP,LOL).Overall im happy with the fit of everything right now.Jimmy
Hello friends ,so the project is still moving forward ,not quite as fast as i want it to (keep finding little unseen repairs ),but is comming together. Its now welded up and one little screw up,when we measured the windshield from upper right to lower left and vise -versa were a 1/16 th of a inch out (barn yard bodyshop). The door gaps and fender gaps are perfect .The rear end is also in so its now on all four wheels. This weekend we will cut the drivers and passenger rear quarters off (open up the rear outer wheel wells to sand blast anyhidden rust )After the quarters are off the car is being trailered to the sand blaster to have the trunk, outside and inside floor pan and engine bay blasted.here are a few more pics test fitting everything.cheers Jimmy
Well folks ,did a little more work to the Acadian over the weekend and she is off to the Sandblaster today ,cut the quarters off quickly just to blast inside then rust proof them ,cant wait to get her back in Epoxy primmer. When she comes back we will pull all the quarters off and reskin both sides .Jimmy
Hello folks ,so the 67 Canso went to (Troy) my Sand Blasters shop on Monday and i got it back Thursday .Troy said the the car came out 90%rust free after its blast with just minor rust repairs in 4 or 5 spots ,no big deal.He said he was a little concerned about the under-coating on the under-side floor pan and wheel wells but they came out like factory new after he was done .Its now going to be blocked up off the floor again and front and rear suspension taken off to be sanded and painted and detailed. The new found rust repaires will be done and the rear quarters completely cut out and new quarters put on in the next two weeks.Ill continue to keep you posted with new pics as it goes.Hey if any of you who are watching this thread want to chime up and say a few words ,id like that .Jimmy, dont know whats going on folks but this thread wont let me post pics ,i even deleted a few from a post awhile back ,still wont let me put up pics ,never had this problem befor.

So folks ,i just wanted to know if you all think i should change the front suspension of this car ,i want to go to a custom built disk brake system that a friend of mines company will build for me ,this can be bolted on to the original spindles ,new trailing arms ect ,this system will appear to look factory but will be way superior and give me a much better turning radius.Or should i just keep it original with front drum brakes ,Jimmy
Most guys will tell you to change it. I am torn. If my 65 doesn't steer good when I get it back on the road (2011) I hope, then it's getting a front end conversion.
By the way, you should have no problem posting pics again, it's fixed.

Hello Jimmy, Are you doing a factory restoration or more of a" rodstoration " ? Earlier on you spoke about keeping the car stock , I know a few people with these cars and they all seem to be caught up in the Pro Touring craze. I have a 66' Acadian Canso SD ready to go on the rotisserie ,it didn't have the engine and trans just the 12 bolt .I do want to leave the car as stock as possible but if the choice must be made between originality of the car or the safety of its occupants ,the disk brakes will win out every time. James

That is the million dollar question. It would be a better performing car if you did. Would it have a negative impact on resale value?...That I can never seem to answer.
I sometimes envy those who don't have matching numbers cars that are in need of a ground up restoration, as they don't have this dilema...

I don't think i've ever heard of a 1st or 2nd gen that the steering didn't suck or the front end alignment didn't hold for long. that is why there are so many conversion kits for those models.
I see my ex has found my new hide-out ,and showing off her beauty and the last car i built for her (the twin to my quarter mile street/strip racecar Blue Thunder ).I see she has a great sence of humour with her Avatar (Was his) ,to mine ( Could have been hers ),LOL
1. Definitely disc brakes, at least in front - gotta have good stopping power - and if there is a handling package like Steve suggests, that would be good too. Need to keep that beauty safe when you drive it, eh?
2. Looks like His and Hers are at least on decent speaking terms, good for you two! I ceertainly hope a certain 'ex' of mine never finds me (Todd, can I use the restraining order to keep her off this site?)

Hello friends,so that all of you here dont think my ex was a gold digger ,here is the truth .I was the idiot that beame a drunken fool and dumped her and broke her heart .I am a very lucky man that she even speakes to me still.I also regret what i did every minute of every day as she was the perfect woman ,she loves cool classics cars ,loves to go to car shows ,auto swap meets and the race track. She does all this with beauty ,style and grace.I dont think theres a single man on this board that wouldnt want to hang out with her,she is also a very smart woman who knows more about muscle cars than most guys.I was the fool .
