Hello folks and friends ,another busy evening at the shop ,so the glitch i talked about yesterday is the lower shock and spring bracket on both sides ,the bushings need to be replaced .Im waiting for them to come in from my local Lordco dealer.Im hoping ill have them by tomorrow night and ill put the new bushings in and the the springs and new shocks can go in and the front end is done .I did manage to get the new front disk brakes in with the 11 inch rotors and dual piston calipers on ,also got the new power brake booster and master cylinder on.Its was a good night ,got a few more great pics of the front end .Im also putting all new grade 6 and grade 8 nuts ,washers and bolts on the complete car for that new finished look. cheers Jimmy B.  I may have to replace these pics tomorrow with better ones they seem a little blurry to me ,oh well stuff happens.

I had the pleasure of Jimmy stopping in at my job site this afternoon on his way back from the chroming shop. I will let him tell you how he made out there but we had some great conversation and he had a chance to see our little piece of the lake shore.

Jerel ,it was a pleasure to meet you and your son ,im very glad i took the time to stop in ,its a good thing to put a face to the avitar.I look forward to this summer driving the Acadian to Kelowna and the two of us taking our cars out for a cruise and maybe dinner on the lake somewhere. As for my trip to the chrome shop ,it was a bit of a bummer when i was qouted on the phone 1800 to 2000.00 to rechrome  my parts ,then when i get there the price is almost 3100.00 . I declined on the price and took my parts home .100.00 of desiel and 7 hours of driving plus a day off from work ,but on the bright side i made a new friend in Kelowna so the trip was worth it.As for my parts ill try one more chrome shop that Jerel told me about or its time to go South of  the border for a better price .The way i see it is 1200.00 will buy me a new set of rims and tires for the car.Jerel if you could PM me the name of the chrome shop we talked about and a phone number i would be grateful ,thanks Jimmy B .PS going to try to paint the inner front fenders tomorrow and bolt them onto the car and also put the hood hinges and hood onto the car, also for Sunday put the steering colum and linkage in so i can steer the car .Its comming together quickly, its amazing how much i get done now that im not a drunk ,lol.

Great job Jimmy. I'm enjoying your build thread. Keep up the good work and the pictures coming!

Are you going stock steering box? I don't see it in there, but the one photo had a coil spring lying under the car and almost looked like a Mudstain rack. It made me wonder if the Ford Mustang rack & pinion is a popular swap for these cars? They're light enough I would think it would be a good fit..

Hello folks and friends ,so Dale and myself worked 6 hours on Sat and 5 hours today (Sun ). We got a a little bit done ,ill tell you restorations take way longer than most think ,there always something else that needs painting or needs to be repaired, replaced , three trips to the parts store a day ect ect .We did get the steering box in and painted the steering colum and put it in ,this is only temperary to move the car ,it will have to come out again to paint the dash and floor pan down the road.We also got the hood on and painted the inner fenders and mounted them for a test fit mock up ,we found a problem. It appears that we will have to loosen the rad support from the inner fenders as they are to close ,they need to be moved out  a half inch ,quarter inch on both sides ,the front of the hood is touching the fenders ,need a better gap.We are also cleaning up the factory power assist steering and putting it in soon ,i will then have a car that can be steered to move it ,yahoo, lol.Man this is truely a labour of love . here is a few more pics ,enjoy friends,Jimmy B

Hello folks and friends ,so didnt work yesterday on the car ,after a super hard day at work was way to tired .Dale and i did get a few things done tonight ,we corrected the front of the hood to fender problem by adjusting the rad support to the inner fenders .Hood fits perfect now.We also put a temperary steering linkage in till i get the power assist ram and pump painted up and find some better hoses for it .We also draged out the glove box and ash tray as tomorrows project is to get the dash complete sanded and painted Satin Black.A few more pics of the hood lining up with the fenders, better than when it came out of the factory and a pic of the Sport Deluxe fender . Cheers Jimmy B

Hello folks and friends ,so i have a friend names Jay who use to work for Killer Customs ,now is Speed Teck,Jay is a professional racecar driver ,Quarter mile and Road Racing ,he just purchased a 71 Camaro SS to build into a road race car so he was selling parts off the car as he is doing a full custom race car.He called me up last week to ask if i wanted his rims and tires for my Canso  for a smoken good deal .He was returning the favour for me letting him race my quarter mile race car on the TV show Pinks All Out.Well i went down to Speed Tech today after work and he gave me the 15 inch rims and tires to test fit on my car The front rims are a 7 inch with a 4.5 back space and the rears are a 8 inch with a 4.5 inck back space tires are 215 /60 /15 they fit really good ,tires are 90 % ,300.00 for the set of 4 rims , like new beauty rings, center caps and 4 like new Uniroyal tiger tires.Do you all think these general motor rims suit an Acadian Canso SD. Jimmy B

Yup, you just need to change the centre caps. Repro Acadian small caps for those rims are available and would look perfect on there.

I agree.  Really like them but I think it needs the smaller caps.   Good deal for you there.  Now to find those emblems.

Hello folks ,so im not to sure im to keen on thoughs two  types of center caps .Wow i just pulled the front grill a part (7 pieces ) for the 67 Acadian and to restore it to mint is going to be a lot of work .There is a piece of stainless or aluminum trim thats riveted to the structure of the grill ,its like 1 inch wide and 4 feet long and held on by 8 or 10 rivets.Ill have to grind off all the rivets to take it off , sandblast and paint the main grill structure the same color as the car ,polish the stailess or aluminum piece and rivet it back on .The grill is going to be one of the most impotant parts of the front of this car so i will go the extra mile to make it mint with painting ,polishing and detailing it .Wow, i was just thinking about how many more hours ill need to put into this car to completly  finish it ,im thinking another 120 man hours ,lost track of how many ive put in all ready. This car was suppose to be for my best friend and soul mate Beverly ( her favorite car )  ,thats the reason why i started to build it .The truth now is if it wasnt going to her in the beginning i would have never started a huge project like this ,but i did start it and i will finish it ,My labour of love. Cheers Jimmy
