Any suggestions for rear shocks? Car has 12 bolt, boxed control arms and GM sway bar. would like a fairly "stiff" ride.May use station wagon springs to slightly raise rear ride height. Also need a replacement lower shock mount stud. Are they available aftermarket ? Thanks in advance for any feed back. Leeroy
I was waiting to post because I wanted to check to be sure. I wanted new shocks for my '67 Laurentian wagon so I ordered new ones from Napa.
The were 100% worse than the ones I took off. I use to put GM gas cusioned ones on but since I left the dealer, I wasn't sure if they were still available. So I contacted my other parts supplier for AC delco and I could get gas charged for $3 more my cost over the Napa ones.
Got them and man what a difference.. Down and then up only, stop! And that is on my wagon. They are $48 list each!
So, here is the part # and a pic of them which includes the original style lower mounting stud........
The front shock part numbers are not the same for my wagon and your Beau but the pic looks the same! Here is the number for the front if they are indeed the same....

I know Tiny (member here) won't agree with me but I have had nothing but success with the AC Delco gas shocks for many years now. It's all I buy and it's what I sell 98% at work. The only time I sell something else is when I can't get the Delco's. Great shock, great price.

Thanks so much for the info. I had inquired at a local GM. dealership re the mounting stud and they were not aware that the stud comes with the new shock! One more question, would the part # for station wagon rear shocks be different? I've got heavy duty-itous!

To be honest, unless you weld the rod solidly to the shock housing in these, you won't or shouldn't need any stiffer than this!!! (Depending of course) They are gas charged and like I said before, even my wagon, push down, return--- stop!!!

The new Napa shocks I took off to install the Delco ones were shorter than both the original spiral shocks on the car and the new Delco's. Maybe the Napa's were light duty? But for $3 more each....... Thank-You very much Mr. Delco!!!!
Oh, the Napa's were made in the States while the Delco's are made in Mexico... Go figure.....
