buying new wheels and need information

i am buying new wheels for my 1964 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport and i am getting conflicting information

i want 15" X 10" in the rear
and     15" X 8" or 15" X 8.5" in the front

1- what is the offset and backspacing that i need for my car?

2- what size tires would you guys use?

your going to have to unbolt your wheel and take measurements from the brake drum to see what your min clearance will be. When you have the rear up , make sure you mesure with the suspension supported, the axle drops left to right because of the pan hard bar. Measure to the wheel well lip , and to the frame rail or exhaust.

I have 15 x 8.5 with 3" back spacing ( 275/60/15 tire) , there is not alot of clearance to the wheel well.

Here is how you measure the rim , this is set of American Racing 200S that I have, not shown are 2 more 15 x 8.5 , ( I have 4 of them and 2 15 x 7 )  . Back space and front space will be important with that size of rim.

here is a great link to understand how to make the measurements..

Oh my goodness confuse I don't think you are going to run 10 inchdisbelief with out mini tubs
Check and then re-check with someone else running wide rims
Do you want to "jack it up"  or slam it down
You can run P275/60R-15 in 7 inch rims  and P295/50R15 on 8 inch

After you tell me (us) how you want it to "sit"  I will tell you what size to run....

JUST FOR LAUGHS,I STUCK A SET OF OLD UNI-LUG SLOT WHEELS ON MY '64 LAURENTIAN. I BELIEVE THEY WHERE 14"X10". THE TREAD WIDTH OF THE OLD BIAS-PLY 50'S WAS JUST A HAIR UNDER 12". THEY FIT INSIDE THE WHEEL-WELLS. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITH THESE OLD ROTTEN TIRES AND I'M SURE THEY WOULD HAVE RUBBED GOING DOWN THE ROAD, BUT THEY DID FIT WITH NO ISSUES WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. THERE IS ALOT OF ROOM IN THOSE WHEEL-WELLS.

with the correct back space , a 10" will fit,,,, but getting a tire that looks square without going to a racing tire will be a challenge...

like Carl said ..measure...measure...measure.

the pic in my Avatar is 15 x 8 1/2 , 3 1/2" back spacing with a 275/60/15 and 7" up front.

there's no more room with that combo other than maybe 1" on the inside....
