RE: 1939 pontiac rearend

From whati can find. It looks like my rearend may be the same as a 1939 0ldsmbile. It looks the same with coil sprind and open driveline. Does anyone know if they make different gears for a 1939 oldsmobile?

Some years ago I rebuilt a 39 canadian Pontiac, I don't remember the series #, but it has a valve in head engine, straight axle in front and closed drive line. Anyway the drive train was like a chevy (with slight modification to the engine), with leaf spring in the rear, no coilconfuse

Fitz.

The imported pontiacs of 39 had leafs according to my GM parts book

with overhead engine?

Fitz.

imported ones list a 6 or 8 "L" Head

IF I'm not mistaken this is a Pontiac Arrow the Second year they made these cars in Canada with the 224 engine. The L head was reintroduced back into Canadian cars in 1941 to 1954. I get the feeling these cars are chvy chassis cars, but with this type of open driveline. These years are a bit confusing to me, in 39 the Special became the Arrow and the Deluxe became the first Chieftan 6. Now the Chieftan 6 had a 224 I believe, but was a US chassis car. These years to me are hard because things then seem to change from year to year so much.

Ok reading back on Stephenzone's finding that the 25-19 is a Chieftan 6 , than that would be the US chassis car and that would explain the open driveline? Looking at the picture I thought it looked like a Chevy chassis car.
By the way that is one Beautifull car you have, sure is one excellent example of a rare 30's Canadian Pontiac!

It looks like a chevy body to me as well, as it has the door hinges exposed the same as the chevy body? But the frame and suspension confuses me? It is an X frame unlike the chevy??

Depending on the color of the clock,   electrical tape works for me..
