I like your way of thinking!  It would be quite a sleeper with a built big block in it!

And leave it the way it is! Wouldn't that be cool?

The car has a 307 and a 3-speed automatic. That year only, on the Caprice & Impala you could get a 307 with a TH400.

Notice the colour. It was offered in the U.S. on Buicks only, but in Canada it was offered on Chevrolets & Pontiacs as well.

When dad was Deputy Reeve in Ancaster, the Reeve came over to our house to talk business with dad. The reeve owned a brand new 1968 Impala 4-door, Sequoia Green (Verdoro Green), plus a 307 / TH400. It had tinted glass all around as well.

I wonder where the rear wheel opening molding is. Could that be a sign of rear 1/4 work?

Missing rear wheel opening moldings could be a sign of rear 1/4 work, but are also often a sign of missing fender skirts.

Shown below is a 68 Caprice with the skirts. Notice how far down the wheel opening they go, then look at the picture of the sedan for sale in P.E.I.

That colour combo really rocks! The brown is a terrific colour!

I remember looking at the new '68s at Towne Chevrolet in Oakville and how crooked the side moulding was on a lot of them-the doors sometimes didn't line up with the fenders.

My dad bought a new Malibu there anyway, 4 door Smoke Grey with a 307. No side moulding on that puppy! smile

Lots of '68 Strato Chiefs and Laurentians in that brown. Looks great with minumum chrome.

The Caprice skirt is the same as the Impala skirt but the moldings are not a good indicator. On the Impala, it is a lip molding. On the Caprice, it's a wide molding that has special brackets allowing it to hang off the lip and much lower across the wheel opening. Bought a pair of the Caprice skirts from a guy in Alabama about 8 months ago. Before that I didn't know how the Caprice skirts were set up.

I've seen a few 307/ t400 full size Chevs over the years, but only ever owned one - a fastback that was converted to a BB 4 speed, but still retained the 3 speed auto dash cluster. From 69 on the T350 was the three speed trans of choice for small block cars; one of my 69 Caprices had a 350/330 HP with a T350.
