I just got home, Started working on Election for Jane Pitfield at 10:00. We are disappointed that Jack Layton was called in to help canvass plus two provincial MP's Michael Prue & Peter Tabuns for NDP canadidate Mary Fragedelakis. I worked my butt off but we lost.
Hopefully my post is clearer than suggesting I supported the NDP candidate when I am happy about Rob Ford being elected but just to be clear Ford ran on a Conservative platform, reduce spending, reduce staffing, reduce the number of City Councillors, reduce the boon doggles, reduce government interfereing in our lives.
My choice for local candidate had to endure having the Federal NDP leader campaign against her plus two MPP's. Obviously seen as a threat. The Liberal & PC's do not get involved in municipal elections to this degree.
This is why Toronto is a gong show, heavy left wing represenation on Council.
Our Civic electon (this thursday) is being heavily targeted by our NDP provincial government, as well as major institution COO's have been NDP appointments... It's quite an infiltration, we're very 'spend happy' around here...
Unfortunately our alternatives at both the civic and provincial level lack any vision, or credible platforms for any change!!
Glad to hear you guys voted in some change, of course proof is in the action, and holding them accountable to their platforms... it can't just be campaign retoric!
I still can't get over the fact that within 20 minutes of the polls closing the results showing Ford won were in. Even Windsor knew by 8:30. Around 9:30 St. Thomas here found out we had a new female mayor. Meanwhile London was so close they didn't know until early this morning. New mayor there too. Congrats on the Ford win in the Big Smoke. Change there may see the same for McGoofy next year! So much for letting his MPP's and staff off to help with Smithereen's election, wonder how many voted for Ford?!

In Toronto the tabulation process is pretty slick. Each ballot is fed immediately into a reader and tabulated once you vote and it is contained within the computer which has a ballot box attached to it.Once the polls close the report is run. There is no error factor, spoiled ballots are eliminated by the computer and whatnot. Each polling station sends information direct to main computer once they do their close off and audit procedure.
