We had a 70 Sedan de Ville when I was a kid, bought used in early 71, but it was basically identical to this 69. That was the first time I'd seen a Protect-O-Plate, and as it all turns out it was previously owned by a family down the street.
Later we had a 71 Coupe de Ville, same green. Green Cadillac's must have been popular back then.
Would hate to pay the gas bills to fill up the monsters now.
can't cost much more than to fill up my 2+2 and it's 20 gallon tank. My mileage, even with the 454 is likely better than the 472, as I'm probably 1000 lbs lighter.
So how much do you spend per month in the summer on gas (if you don't mind me asking)?
I've always wanted a 70 El Dorado with the 501 in it. I was in California last month, and a couple days after I returned I spotted one on ebay that was only about a 1/2 hour drive from where I was staying. It was complete, and in good shape and only went for $2250 or something like that. Oh well.
In 2+2 rag with the 454 - I don't check my mileage around town, but I get 17 mpg on the highway, and that's cruising at 75 - 80 mph. So it really depends on how many miles I put on. This year the only long drives I did was 8 hrs to Penticton, 3 hrs to Medicine Hat and 3 hrs to Edmonton. Good thing our gas here in AB is a bit cheaper than other parts of the country.
