Couldn't pass up this opportunity - got another one in my driveway.

This car has been sitting in a garage for the past year. Unfortunately it's retired owner was hospitalized and can no longer drive. The family offered the car to me. The owner was a GM mechanic at a huge Toronto dealership for his entire career. The car has been maintained how you would expect a factory trained mechanic to do so. Car has been oil sprayed regularly. We are still trying to find a mark on this. There wasn't a spec of dust in the interior when I got it earlier this week. It passed the e-test like a new car. The car drives so nice it's hard to think it is a 1998 model.

Beautiful car Ray!
This model of car was the last car my Dad owned before passing away.
We should have kept it in the family. So many memories.
It looked exactly like the one below, an LSS model. The rims were cool. The blue/green paint was beautiful and reflective in the sun/shadows. One of GM's most beautiful paint colours.
I miss this car. I miss my Dad. Who says they are just glass and steel.

I might be a bit boring on the styling side but It's so nice to drive my wife has called first dibs on it, it's like a new car, It is mint that's why I agreed to take it. I really had to think long and hard about accepting the car because having 5 cars in Toronto is an issue. I may end up taking the Fleetwood off the road for the winter. Anyway The Olds has all the goodies including traction control, and I was surprised that it was buckets with a console which I like. .....still haven't transferred it over but plan to do that Monday.

those 3800 are bullet proof , except for that pesky coolant transfer tube in the intake that rots out and allows coolant into the intake track and starts blowin white out the tailpipe. Easy fix if you catch it, other wise it can hydraulic a cylinder.

Mine went at 285'000 km.

very nice looking car , can't beat the ride and power.

That's what I think too. The oil is like honey and the coolant is very clean and rich in colour. Normally I would change the fluids when aquiring a used car but there is really no need to in this case. I may give it a month or so then change them just to establish a base line for future changes. The only things I can report in terms of faults are one fog light is burnt out and the muffler seems noisey to me however it has no holes or leaks. Exhaust system appears to be original.

Hey Buddy! What a scoop de force! You should put IT away for the winter and continue to drive your other car instead of taking it off the road. This one's a true beaut and the mileage is just unbelievable for a 13 year old car. WOW! Congrats pally.

As all the rest said, great find. Those are great cars. Keep an eye on the oil for signs of coolant. Fix ASAP if/when you notice it and you are set till retirement with that car!

I factory ordered a 1992 Bonneville and that car was still going strong at 171,000 km when it was crushed by a tanker truck, probably saved my life driving a full sized car!.
This car is darn near identical, I notice a difference in off the line acceleration because I had ordered the W62 package on my Bonneville which put a 3.08 axle ratio in the car. This one is standard ratio but it is no slouch, I really like the 3.8 for power. The car does seem to be much better put together than my Bonneville though.

I took this car in for a safety certificate this morning. You need this to transfer ownership in Ontario. I got 4 offers on the car while I was waiting including one from the owner of the shop.

You and my wife will get along famously, I don't think she has discarded a pair since we've been married and that my friends in 29 years!

I like shopping for shoes with Mary because she has to shop at Tall Girl for shoes. Usually at the Atrium, Dundas and Yonge. You would be amazed at the people you see looking for size 13 pumps, you know what I mean the girls with the 5 o'clock shadows and Adam's Apple. I get a kick out of seeing them all dolled up! biggrin

Looks good, Ray!  I've liked that bodystyle ever since it came out.

Comfortable car, too. My real estate agent drove us around to a few showings in one of those back when we were looking for a house.  It was just a nice roomy, smooth car to ride in.  I'm sure you'll have many pleasurable miles ahead in the Olds!

It's been a few weeks since we added this one to our family. Here's the update. My wife has adopted this as her car, she's given up her Suburban for this, she just loves it. Uses about 40% less gas than the big rig on her drives to and from work. It's kind of funny. If I leave all the keys on the table she will always pick the Olds. I have to admit is is a very nice car to drive and the 3800 Series II has plenty of power and quite a very strong kick down for merging and passing.

I realized I never divulged what I paid for it and I paid what the family asked with no haggle....$1,500. We are very pleased with this car. I just can't seem to reconcille where GM went wrong or why they went wrong when this was the product they were producing. I'd recommend one of these highly, but of course what are the chances of getting a cherry like this.

$1500.00?    Were they suffering from "old timers"?   I paid 900 for a Sunfire..   I'll send you a cheque,  and you can get one for me...  no rush next 6-8 months....

I just took 59 pair of womans shoes to Goodwill

Barb will probably go and buy some of them back..

We have been married 43 years   She once spent $29.95 for shoes at Payless, but she also got 1 pair free!
I bought some boots at Walmart (once)  they were 40.00 bucks

You know me Carl, I can keep an eye out for you.  The used car package from the MTO showed $975 as wholesale price and $3750 as retail. They were happy, I did all the running around, e-test and safety plus transfer, All they did was sit at home and get a cheque.
