I'm not sure if this is Canadian however it would be a neat car restored. There's not too many Tempests left and I like the stripe!

Geez...our 70 Tempest was a post car and I have my heart set on getting another one.

Now that stripe is very interesting because it is the 1969 Judge stripe. It was put on certain Tempests in 1970. Certain Tempest means GT-37 Tempests.

Tempests were built in Oshawa in 1970 and they did not come in 1970 with Chevrolet engines other than the 250 six. The V8's were the Pontiac 350 2bbl and 400 4bbl.

Ours was a 350 rated at 265 HP with a PG, rubber floor mats, radio delete, twin stripe whitewalls - Firestone 70's with premium wheel discs, that was it for options, light green. I was 12 when we got that car in November 1969 and I remember be pissed at Dad for buying such a cheap car! It was fast as Hell though and could lay rubber for 50 feet.

I agree mark but the tail pipe looks to be coming straight out the rear valance, A rear shot would be helpful so we could see the rear valance, it would be dual cutouts if a GT-37 for those who might not know the GT-37.

the 70 Jury used the same stripe and was a 2 dr post car, 350 2 BBL , 4 spd, disc brakes, posi, and a bench seat, and a 69 Judge wing.

Stampede Motors of Calgary built these COPO cars.....

there is one in Saskatoon, I passed on it when it was for sale here, just didn't have the cash and it had been a donar car for something ??

1970 Magnum 400

In the fall of 1969 as the 1970 Pontiac models were introduced, Bill Knsfel decided to introduce his own inexpensive, lightweight performance car. He was aware of the success of the Plymouth "Roadrunner", so he felt that by ordering the right combinations of options, he could market a successful performance car. He named it "Magnum 400" and sold about 50 that year. It started out as a Tempest coupe ordered with the 400 4BBL engine, Rally II wheels, the 1969 Judge stripe, and other choices of options to suit the customer's taste, such as 4 speed or turbohydramatic transmission, Safe-T-Track differential, and performance rear end ratios.

I have said this before, I was never very fond of these dealer concocted cars. The Jury is especially bush league in my opinion. At least they could have put dual exhaust on it and what was with that stupid 1969 Judge wing?  A factory GT-37 is well thought through and covers these decal and stripe cars ten fold. twocents.gif
