It proves it was bought at a Pontiac dealer   and confirms, that most people thought they were Pontiacs

Actually , now  I don't think Pontiacs were Pontiacsdisbelief They were just another series of models from General Motors    so they ALL should be called GM's   biggrin

Actually the marketing of cars in Canada was very different from the US. Cars were sold by General Motors Canada whereas in the USA Pontiac Motor Division sold the cars, Olds, Chevrolet etc...

This fact is evident in a large number of publications and even on window stickers which always said GM Canada, data plates as well, always say GM Canada.

We will never gain consensus on the Pontiac / Beaumont argument and we all know there is plenty of evidence to support both sides of the arguments. It seems to me that people who are old enough to have lived through the era and original release of the cars call them Pontiacs, just something I have observed.

Hope you guys know I was just kidding.  I like some of those old adds that Fred posted. Most say sold at your  Beaumont,Pontiac , Olds,Buick  dealership. I like they way they keep it as a seperate model of General Motors and is never refered to as a Pontiac. My personal view is its no more Pontiac than and Olds or Buick is.

You will also notice that in those ads Grand Prix and Firebird are not referred to as Pontiacs either.....confuse

While not wanting to argue the point, it's no mystery why people would tend to think of Beaumonts as Pontiacs rather than Olds or Buicks, since:

(1) They were sold through Pontiac-Buick_GMC dealerships on a Pontiac priceline (meaning: on a pricepoint of a fancy Chevelle) and alongside the A-body Buick Skylark.

(2) Their styling changes from the Chevelle tended to follow what would clearly be viewed as Pontiac styling (split grille, American Pontiac Tempest dash, etc).

(3) The Beaumont emblem includes what could only be perceived as a stylized Pontiac arrow as a main feature of the emblem.

Again, not wanting to argue the point as they were clearly marketed as an independent brand, just saying that it's not out-to-lunch for somebody to perceive them as a Pontiac model.
