Canadian Pontiac engine suffix codes

Is there a book out there that has the info to decode the number only suffix for  Canadian Pontiacs like my 64-65 Beaumonts? Is there car vins in these groups of numbers?

Here are some examples
Casting #                    Suffix
3782870                 X2927
3849852                 805479657
3834812                 834470716
3849852                 2155006134
3834812                 834429501

All have the sun dial date on them to indicate the month built ( I think)? I can't find the traditional date numbers on the rear pad.

As in my PM w/ 65ssd, I have no complete lists here and only notes I've saved over the years also an old oil-stained book that has some included but is mixed in w/ other info too..

I've tried to get all the unique Canadian codes I have together a few times and had posted most of them in a thread here once but it crashed when I pushed the submit button and I lost everything I'd spent the time getting together!.
I was so disappointed and frustrated that I gave up and haven't tried again since..

Keep in mind that these Canadian Suffix Codes weren't only used in Cdn. Pontiacs but also in some Cdn. built Chevys too!.

Here below is a few threads where we've discussed these Canadian only codes before..
I'll try and make an attempt at getting them all rounded up again soon..

Have a great weekend fellas!.

Thankyou for the effort guys. I was pretty sure of the casting numbers but those suffix numbers are a tuff one or sure. I have two manual trans cars with 23, 25 codes, and a auto with a 21 code that I assume is also a manual suffix. I assume the 80, 83 are PG cars? The funny thing is I have two 62, 63 blocks with a 64 suffix that came in 65 cars. Wierd eh?

Unlike standard suffixes, from what I've seen it seems some or all of these unique Canadian suffix engines were used w/ different intakes/carbs etc also used in multiple years w/ both sticks and autos so pilot bushings added when req'd?.

Unconfirmed info includes;

21 = 327 4Bbl
25 = 327 4Bbl
80 = 283 2Bbl

Look more for info on the 25 as there's a chance some were built as L79 engines for Canadian production cars!.

Picked up another with a 21 suffix code that is 327 300HP 4spd. The 23 suffix could be a 283 4 Barrel 4spd because that's what the car is on the GM docs. It's funny because I have a 3849852 that is a 283 with a 21 suffix which would be a 327 then. Weird?

My data and observations suggests:

1946 on Pontiac 239.2 prefixed W-, from around W-4500 to W-300000 in 1954
then
1955 Pontiac 261 prefixed W-, starting with W-1? and with Powerglide, a 9 was added, i.e. 9W-

283 prefixed V- and with P/G 9V-..I assume that 265s were the same?

1955-58 right-hand drive 261s were WR- and then from 1959 with rhd P/G 9W-!

1955-on rhd Chevy 235s were R-

I have no idea if there was a 1960-on VR- for rhd 283

1959 onwards 348s were prefixed D- and P/G 9D-

GMC truck 283s were TV-, so I assume that the 348s were TD-?

Those are suffixes with letters but I'm wondering about the all numbers Canadian chev small block suffix codes. These had numbers only that were in Canadian pontiacs and Chevs. That info you posted is also interesting.

As I said 1955-62ish small-block codes were V or 9V.

I have engine numbers back to 1915 but they are for Chevrolet and Pontiac/GMC/Maple Leaf that used Chevy engines. Fat lot of use to you as you want V-8 codes!  However they may be of interest to others.

Good point and interesting on the 852 castings as 327's!?.
What casting is the 21 code 327 that's not the 852?.
