The Canucks are in Ottawa to play the Senators tonight. Instead of having the normal morning skate the team cancelled practice and attended the Remembrance Day service at the National War Memorial. Can't think or anything more Canadian.

"General manager Mike Gillis believes players will benefit by attending the Remembrance Day ceremony by seeing soldiers, who have fought for Canada, and pondering the sacrifice made by others. Perspective is always a good thing, Gillis told The Sun. He said the Canucks have arranged no special viewing privileges for the ceremony, and that players and staff will simply walk from their hotel and join the crowd at the Cenotaph."


To see generations of soldiers I can't imagine what they've gone through but to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Canada is a small gesture for us... The final parade, seeing generations going by and the pride they have in being a member of the armed services, that's the point that really hit home for me. -- Vancouver Canuck Manny Malhotra, expressing his thoughts and those of his team, as the Canucks gathered in Ottawa to mark Remembrance Day.
