RE: 4 sale - 1966 Pontiac Grand Parisienne #'s Matching Big Block 4 spd.

Very wise words Ray. I have considered that possibility, that I might buy it and it could turn out to be a disappointment. That is one reason why I have not pulled the trigger on this one yet. The other reason is the colours. It is totally opposite of the one I had as far as colour, and for me, the dark blue on the one I had was a big part of the appeal.

As far as the Acadian goes, you are right about that part too. I am working to have it done this fall, put it away and drive it in the spring. Although our daughter will claim it in 7 years at age 21, our son has claimed it for Grade 12 grad next June!

And I have never seen a factory 4 speed 65 Canso SD either. As a matter of fact, I've only ever seen pictures of one 65 Canso 4 speed car and that was a 2 door post car, a totally gutted, rusty hulk with only the cowl tag to prove what it had been. I am pretty sure there will be less 4 speed Acadians in 65 than GP's in 66. I know I've seen 3 personally and this white one would make 4.

If I would buy the GP, it would be one of my last old cars to add. I will be 54 next month and at this point I think a couple more restorations, then time to settle in at the cottage for the summers!

Nope. I discussed it with him this week but I'm not convinced enough yet to make the trek. I am not ruling it out though. I promised him he would hear back from me.

I think it's around 11 hours for me, one way.

The point Ray makes about it not replacing one the one I had 25 years ago is what has been weighing heavy on my mind though. I have been pondering that since he first advertised it a couple of years ago. It's still not my old car...

I think the 66 & 67 Grand Parisienne are beautiful cars.

This one looks nice and it is no doubt rare. What I can't tell is whether it has it been lowered. It seems to sit very low.

One thing about the interior color - you can paint the outside whatever color you like. But as noted, you may still never be able to recreate the vibe of your old car.

I asked him about the lowering and he says it has brand new big block coils in it. I think someone either cut them or got the wrong part number because it sits way too low for a stocker. He suggested it is the low profile tire but I checked an online tire conversion site and it says 8.25-14 is the same as a 245 60 14 which is what is on this car. My blue car with the original front springs and 160,000 miles sat much higher than this one.

In this shot, the trunk is right full because 3 of us were on the road for about 10 days. Luggage, car parts etc.

No, but I guess I should.

Hmm, wait a sec. I may have PM'd him about it once. Do you talk to him sometimes? Would you mind just asking him? Seems to me he told me it's a "driver" which is fine.

it is a driver,, but it is a clean straight car with the usual 1/4 rot. very light rot...

I should have a pic somewhere I can dig up when I get home ....

and then again..Ken might not be willing to sell it?

Would you be willing to ask him?

Hey, wait, I think I did talk to him once on the phone but I never asked if he'd sell that car. He once owned a factory 4 speed GP, right?

Those 14 inch are way too low   wink

I see what you mean. I made the mistake of looking at only this site from tire rack and it certainly is wrong. Thanks Carl for pointing that out. That explains why it the car looks like it does.

Gimme a break Fred, I'm tired!!! I've spent the whole week of evenings repairing our daily drivers (97 Silverado, 94 Fleetwood). I'm beat.

Ok, and I'm lazy, and I never even thought of it.

Thanks!
