Wow, there is some great reading. I headed straight to 1967 Chevelle. Found two interesting optional engines that I didn't think you could get in 67. L79 & L78. The L79 was rated at 325hp???? In any case, I was shocked to see this.
RE: Best Full Explanation On Decode of GM Protect-O-Plates
Just reading the 1967 Camaro Adobe PDF, pages 67-69-70/212 for 1965-67 cars, pages 71-75/212 for 1966-68 cars. Guys, this is by far the best explanation of decoding a POP I have ever seen. These could apply to GM Canada Pontiacs with Chevy drivetrains.
Yes, I think that is correct. If I am right it had a cast iron intake and a quadrajet.
Carl. That was 68 with the cast iron intake and Q jet. The 67 was the aluminum with a holley. It's not clear why it was rated at 325. Some believe it's because they didn't want to advertise a higher hp small block than the entry level big block ss. If you google search 67 chevelle l79 you will find a few neet cars.
Note: Link to Clicky, click model, example Nova, then click year, example 1965. Once you are on model year 1965, then right click 1965 and click open to open 1965 Adobe file, takes maybe 30 seconds or more, depends on your download speed.
If you just simply left click 1965, a license agreeement comes up, you click (say) "yes" to agreement, a flash occurs but nothing else happens, no Adobe file download.
So use right click to open and download.
Just thought I would mention this to all who use this clicky. Works just fine otherwise so load up your Adobe file before GM "taketh away again"!!!
