Got the wife to cave and got a new toy

I finally got a snowblower after 2 years of asking the wife. The news is saying the west coast is in for a bad winter this year and I think that broke her stance on it.

It's got a Briggs and Stratton engine. I rebuilt a few of those in school

It's lightweight to hang on the wall. It is self propeled by the augers. Had to be small enough to fit between the two Pontiac's.

That's funny, I just mentioned to my wife last night that was going to be my next purchase. I got a feeling we're going to get it big time. I'm still looking.

I've been looking at them too, there sure are some bad a$$ snowblowers out there, I looked at one the other night, a White, that was $1,999.99 with a Briggs & Stratton OHV More Power engine. That baby had two head lights and a 6 speed transaxle. It was a 36" intake. I can probably get by with a 24" 8 or 10 HP.  I live somewhere where "it never snows" too but for some reason the snow banks are always 30" high come January.

Get a brand name motor....the rest is the same. Craftsman has a same parts list as this Brute. Mine is just a motor and belt.....not good on a gravel driveway.

I'm going to see how far it throws waterbiggrinbiggrin

Didn't Todd buy one last year. I thought it was a huge blower. Costco sells a 27"  wide one....Don't remember the engine size.

Last year's picture, but I'm ready!

Our driveway is 1000' long. First year here I did it with a walk behind blower...

We bought one two years ago and man, did we need it that winter. I exceeded the oil change interval! Last year I used it once and really didn't need to. From what I've been hearing, I'm going to need it this year. Carl2 lives in the middle of the Ontario snowbelt. I hope he has his blower prepared!

Here's a photo from Jan 2009.

They say the weather patterns this year are going to be the same as 09.

I'm READY as well!!!  The new Allis with 22 HP should do the job as the old one was 11HP & had no problems as long as it wasn't or isn't that wet sloppy "crap" that weighs a "TON"

We have a guy down the road from us do our driveway. He gets out before we do in the morning with a full size tractor and 6 foot (it looks like) swath. 2 swipes and he's done our driveway - $20.00
I just finish off the job by hand around the walkway, porch, oil tank, and waste bins.

Go ahead and laugh......If we get the snow like 2 years ago I'll be walking behind this thing and laughing.
I phoned my tire guy Wed and it went to voice mail saying he had 40 cars waiting first thing in the morning, because it's first come first serve. Plus you couldn't leave a message, because the message box was full too! Tire dealers around here are only busy when snow is on the ground. Unless the weather girls are getting a kickback from people selling snow products........They say we're in for it.

So, how much is that little Brute worth?  And where do I get one?

This is since Monday and now it has quit snowing.  Most of it is from the wind drifting the snow onto our driveway.  Our house was like a giant snow fence.  Driveway faces NW and the wind was from the east.

The brute is under $500 at Wal-Mart. You can get the same at Sears under the Craftsman brand

Thanks Kim. I see the latest Walmart flyer on the counter tonight has them on sale for $448. Looks like I will try out a Brute too. One of the neighbors has the Craftsman and his wife uses it with no problem. I'm away quite a bit and require a woman friendly snowblower that is not huge.

Have spent the last 2 afternoons rebuilding the chains on our 8/26 walk behing. Tommorrow I'll change the oil and fire it up.
It's 26 years old and still running fine, although a few years back I did change all the brass bushings on the auger. The fact that I had to replace sections of the wheel chains tells you how much its been put thru.
