65 wagon tail light lenses?


Noticed many fine cracks in my tailight lenses, wondering if they are a Beaumont only item or if they cross over to Chevelle or Camino? Any ideas where to find? Car purchased new by my dad in 65, 62,000 original, 230 with glide. Custom model in tahitian turquoise.

I think chevelle/el camino will work but I am sure someone will tell you for sure.

beaumont has been in drydock for like 30 years, the paint has faded and the front seat
upholstery got sun burnt, but everything else okay.  The kids are gone, the house is built
so finally its time for the wagon.  Checked with GM historical, total production for that model was 151, wonder how many left?

Wow,you gotta show us some pictures of that baby. Ive only seen a few others myself. Yes the Chevelle/Elcamino lenses are the same,and I might actually have some spares,I'll check their condition.  Is your wagon a Custom or Deluxe? Sounds like it might have been ordered similar to mine. Turquois,6 cylinder,turquois interior.  Chris

Hey I checked out your vids, pretty cool stuff!  Notice you were in Gimli, me and the wagon grew up in Beausejour.  Car was purchased by my dad from Stefaniuks garage which was Pontiac dealer at the time.  He sold the car to me in 1972 for $200 (I was 14)
Its a custom, has dealer installed front fender mirrors, rear snow deflectors, and roof luggage rack.  When I moved to B.C. in 1980 the car sat at a buddies farm at Bird River for 23 years (really good bud), then went back and had it shipped to B.C.  A battery, a bit of gas, and 2 new tires and it fired up after 23 years!  Since then have replaced brakes, springs, shocks, etc, now it needs paint and some interior work.  Hope to have it back on
road next summer if all goes well.  Would be interested in tailight lenses, let me know how much you want and i will contact.  Chris (also)  Will get out some photos and post soon.

Cool story,that you got it so young,and its been in the family so long.All the options on my car were added after I fixed it up.Kinda neat ours were ordered so similar,mine was a 3 on the tree though,but its a Custom also.Are you tail lights broken?Mine are very decent,you can have em for the price of shipping.PM me. Do you have all the other trim for the car? its a bear to find it all(thanks Kelly).Cant wait for pics.

thanks for the greet! Hoping to have car back on the road this summer. Would be great to be able to take my dad out for supper on his 85th in it! Was tempted to upgrade drivetrain
with small block and 700 but I think I will keep it original because there are so few out there. Had to replace both rear trim "hockey sticks", and one rocker molding (Manitoba snow/ice berm), but found a great source for both at The Tin Man on Vancouver Island. They went out of their way to find what I needed and the prices were fair. If anyone is looking for that hard to find part give them a try.

Hello Wagon, thank you, thank you and thank you for keeping your fab wagon original. Your decision to keep the factory stock 230 inline in your original wagon is a very wise decision my brother. If you were to drop a belly button later bent 8 in your car, you would regret it later. It is good to preserve Canadian Pontiac history in the way you intend. I respect you for that brother. The Chev inline sixes of this generation, were actually very good solid engines. The 192, 230, 250 and 292 chev sixes were excellent engines of that generation. I wish you the best of luck with your resto on your fine wagon. Like everyone else here, i would love to see pics. Cheers. George.

Chader is that your 67 Chevelle four door? I love it brother. Back in 1981 i bought the exact same car. It was a 300 Deluxe, black with black diamond tuck interior, (I kid you not, yes a custom black diamond tuck interior that some nut case put in). The 307 was replaced by someone in the past with the 350 that was in it. This car i drove all year round for two years. When i saw your avatar, it brought back a lot of memories. Cheers. George.

If he were to save the engine and trans in the corner of the shop and installed a small block, what is the harm with this?  Maybe you might regret doing something like this but some us like V8's and I would prefer a V8 wagon vs a 6cyl.  The original engine is not lost and can always be put back in the car by someone like you who thinks there is more value in an original.  Personally, I don't see the extra value in an all numbers matching station wagon vs a well built wagon with a small block that looks stock from GM.  The thing I don't care for when guys redo an original car, is when they strip the car of the original trim or when it gets installed wrong.  Ultimately, if you choose to leave your car as it was from factory, then you have a belly button car since anyone could have bought it that way.  

Not sure why a V8 would be considered a belly button engine in 1965 anyhow?  More Acadians were built with a 6 than an 8.

The thinking was to go with a period correct 283, or 327 and 400 or 700. But then the prindl would not work correctly on the column. Have other projects that take care of my hp needs, so me thinks I will keep the wagon the way it came. Because I drove it so little after purchasing everything is as it came, Original hubcaps, jack, spare tire, etc. All the original gm stickers are there, as well as the grease pencil markings on the firewall. Don't know where they would have hid the build sheet if they did? (a la vette) but it should be there somewhere...any ideas? Will have to up-grade guides in head to work with todays fuel and will probably freshen rings and bearings while its out. Will post photos ASAP but we just had over 2 feet of snow here in the mountains, so getting the old girl out of her shelter is a challenge at the moment. Thanks for all the responses, this is a great site and I look forward to future stuff......

The build sheet is likely under the back seat unless GM did something different for wagons. Both of my 65 Acadians had the sheets hogringed to the underside of the backseat cushion. (The part you sit on.) I suspect that wagons would be the same. I've heard some guys say they've found them in the dash or in the back of bucket seats.

I don't have the Chevelle anymore. Sold it to the demise of my youngest daughter, and bought a '67 Beaumont wagon. Wagon needs lots of work but I hope to get going on it soon and earn back the respect of my children.

Mike from Strathmore, i am not talking about then, i am talking about now. Now brother. I am not alone i have gone to countless shows and met countless folks who feel the same way. Just bored to !@#$%^&* tears with small block after small block after small block. There is no doubt they are a great engine, i know i have had many myself. It is time to think beyond the normal rank and file. It had got to the point where i enjoy looking at a Ford or Mopar engine for a change. It is such a breath of fresh air to meet folks at car shows who are bucking the same old same old theory of engine choices and are daring to be different. I have noticed at least in Southern Ontario that a lot more people are bucking the status quo. More and more often and i can not help thinking that is a good thing. Dare to be different. Cheers.
