When the car is done, will he be named "Rust-free"?

Hey, that's a Carl joke and yes that name may stick around. The other name could be money pit.

So the Cheetah is a work in process. Oh boy is it a project! Here are some pictures for guys that think that there is no hope for some cars. I think you can save anything if you have enough parts cars. The after market is pretty good but the one piece trunks and after market wheel house will need to be widened to match full quarters. It seems that the after market is nice to have but far from perfect.

Wow Paul! Did you ever consider cutting out just the drivers side door pillar that has the serial number on it and installing it in a rust free car because it sure looks like you are replacing everything anyway?

I have dealt with the stripping, body seperation (X2), dash demo,  and the chassis but I traded a couple of cars for the floor and trunk work which is on going. This is not a car for the average guy. I'm pretty handy but this is a tuff one. Here are the chassis photos and a few others.

I have a real nice custom beaumont to do such a thing but I don't support changing a rare car like this by popping tags or cutting the pillar. You will still find original regal red paint behind the Cheetahs tags and the drivers pillar is untouched.

Man I wish I could buy a car like this but they just don't exist. Not in my price range anyway. Thankyou for all your parts because they have helped for sure.

The roto is the body guys and it was only on it for the sand blasting and epoxy. A body jig is great idea but I still think the best way to cut a car like this one is to sit it on a frame and align it that way with the new panels. I stripped the frame by hand, fixed any flaws, and painted it with the non UV sensitive por 15. The car will be back on the roto to finish the welding, dress the seams, and paint the underside red. Cutting a car like the body guy did originally is a no no but we rectified that and he put it on the frame and things went alot smoother after that.

Here is some more progress photos. I had to cut the rear out of another car and restore it to mount in the rear of the cheetah. It turned out alright and with the help of my body guy it was mounted in place. The frame is almost rolling now.Picture 333.jpg

Thanks Jim. I won't be keeping track of hours on this one. It needs to be done right or nothing. It won't be a show car but it will be nice. I guess there is different ideas of what a show car is? Here's some more.

Normally there's no beer till the work is done.
