I had a productive day yesterday so today I'm taking it easy. The 65 Cheetah Chassis is complete, rolling with all new brakes, brake lines, all new bushings, ball joints, tie rods, and a new 3/8 fuel line.

Kudos for repairing what you have and not swapping tags etc onto another body!.
Lotsa' work no doubt but considering it's a Conroy car especially w/ '65 Cheetah possibilities, ending up with THE car repaired is better than a nicer condition rebody!.

On the engine/drivetrain thing, being an L74 '65 it looks like Suffixes EB, EC & EF are possibles but the Canadian Numeric Suffix #'s 25 & 85 are possible too..
What was the as shipped Suffix you mentioned also the one on the engine you have now?.

On '65 US Chevelles there's no Vin stamping unless L79 & L37 (Z16) equipped so it is possbile to end up w/ an totally correct but non original engine if you want to..
What's the rear axle tube #'s?.

Looking forward to more on this car!.

Lefty, wow on the Bill Thomas Cheetah connection!!!
Besides his Cheetahs, Thomas was into lots of cool stuff and well connected w/ Dick Harrell and other major players back in the day also the one of if not THE first to put the MK1V motors into Chevy 2's!.

I would be into that. Now we just need to organize it. Maybe burgers for lunch or something like that. I hope the Cheetahs home and on the frame but I can't be sure.

The canadian stuff that is 300 hp and lower isn't coded like the US and Canadian L79 cars. My motor is a 870 block with a 25 suffix if I remember. Keep in mind this a numbers corrrect car. The casting date of the block is two weeks before the car, the 461 heads, intake,  etc are within 3 months. The block has my original suffix on it's pad that matches the GM documents. It has the 608 water pump but I'm torn on putting in a old distributer on a 5000.00 motor. It will have the 3721S carb after I find one. The axle tube was pitted and the info was pretty distorted. I rebuilt the rear end and it had it's original 3:31 GM gears in it and the casting numbers are correct for the car. The trans and the rear end are original to the car.

It won't be as nice as kelly's because I am too cheap but it will be nice. These photos are a just for reference because by the end of this weekend it will be shiny red under it. I wish I could say that I had a ton of money in this car but I don't. I'm pretty thrifty and I get a good bang for my buck. I made a trade for labor for the floor work and he's  happy because he got a couple of good projects. I moved some cars on to people who will do something with them and the one I want is done. This will continue with the other cars that are only there to finance my projects. I'm lucky to have the cars and the good people to make it happen.

You are doing a great job on this resto Paul and I applaud your efforts.

I have been following this thread and have read through it in it's entirety several times and again this morning. I would like to offer and opinion without the intention either way of saying this is an early Conroy Cheetah. Please don't take it any other way and I apologize for using your thread to voice my opinion.

Your car definitely has some interesting and rare options. It's too bad that your car can't be verified as an early Conroy Cheetah. I think if I were building this car I would build it as the build sheet states with the added Talbot mirror and the emblems on the front fenders with an explanation that poses the question and let the person looking at the car or this thread to make his/her own assessment.

The power of the internet or print can be a great assett or a detriment. People have to be careful about what they post as public without concrete documentation. The car that is shown with this explanation (below) makes it very difficult to try and correct what most people perceive as the truth.

Qualicum car show 2010 070.jpg

I recently changed my auto signature to show my 69 as being one of 91. The reasons above are why I did this. My car is one of 43 350HP cars but there were 48 325HP cars made as well. I was hesitant to post the numbers for the 48 cars because of conflicting information on paperwork I had from VVS. When I got paperwork on the second 325 car I contacted George and had him check the first car again and the information was not correct. I was also hoping that someone else with a 69 would come forth with some data.

Again, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I think that you are doing an amazing job and can't wait to see the finished car. I think you are being tough on yourself when you say it won't be as nice as another car. Just the fact that this car survived is amazing on it's own. Keep up the great work.

I also applaud your efforts and enjoy this thread. As the owner of a sad shape 65 SD I am excited to see your progresss and encouraged with your pictures and posts to continue efforts on mine. Same old story..time and money and other projects seem to keep my car from progressing although a fellow member has provided me with many good parts and encouragement to move forward.

Keep up the great work and know that your posts are appreciated by other members! Even some of us rookies that don't chime in much
