oh, i see, i was under the impression it was a wreck. that changes almost everything. check with can. customs and export, find out the rules for this week, and if all is well, seal the deal imeadiatly, before they change the rules. i,ve bought recovered vehicles and had no problem with getting a rebuilt title from a u.s. car.
Car is just a few hours from me and is not damaged. A few areas of rust with a solid frame. All trim and glass, just no drive line or front clip, asking $2000. So close and yet so far till I figure the salvage title out.
My friend, who imports a lot of U.S. cars says that, cars over 15 years, are "not subject" to Ontario Branding I looked it up and He's correct... You still fax info to U.S. customs and bring car over and pay tax on bill of sale (I did it last year on Ventura) Andrew brought over a 69 Z28 from Texas, his customer repaired damage Took salvage title to MTO Clinton, and got a "clear non branded permit"
8. Are any vehicles exempt from the mandatory vehicle branding program?
Yes, the following vehicles are exempt from the mandatory vehicle branding program:
Trailers, traction engines, farm tractors, road-building machines, bicycles, motor assisted bicycles, motorized snow vehicles, street cars and motorcycles or motor vehicles with a model year of "1980" or earlier.
Salvage" - a vehicle that can be repaired and is subject to inspection criteria approval.

this is a wee bit confusing-so the 89 corvette I had was wet with a salvage certificate stating excessive water damage yet because it was over 15 years old it could have been registered with no brand ???? Big mistake on my part if that was true---its gone as a parts car
I don't think so Ken. At least not from talking to other guys here who have imported flood cars. Two guys have told me, "once a flood car, always a flood (parts) car".

flood cars can not be registered no matter what the age of them. I did read that part. Because mine states on the salvage title it was abandoned , not wrecked or flood they had no problem with it.

The confusion refers/refered to the Branding part .. As I found out old cars are not subject to the branding..

so yes all old cars get a "clean permit"
not this week rules
the rules from the beginning
I'm kinda thinking it depends on the MTO office kinda like the RST appraisals etc... The correct way is to brand.
