What the catch? Rear Bumper 67 Chevelle

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chevelle-67-Bumper-New-Rear-1967-Chrome-In-Stock-/370455943638?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1967%7CModel%3AChevelle&hash=item5640e519d6

I have seen many bumpers advertised in the $180-$220 range. How can they cost so much less than re-chroming? Are they made of plastic? Rechroming would cost me $650.00, but new is $169.95? Am I just lucky that the bumper is so readily available? My chrome is quite good, but behind the plate is faded. I am nitpicking over the winter. It looks the same to me, just seems too easy?

They should take a picture of the other side, look for that Made in China sticker. And how much would it cost to ship to Canada?!?!

If it is a quality piece that would be amazing. I'd let my father in law know, i think he's going to need one for the 67 Malibu he's working on.

Individual chrome jobs are expensive because they're individual. Most of the cost is in stripping, repairing and bodyworking the part to be chromed. A repop starts out straight and clean ... and doing 100 at a time comes out a lot cheaper than one.

this is 100% accurate. its still a really good price for a piece that really makes or breaks a car. important tip: when using an offshore bumper, make sure you paint the inside of the bumper with a high quality rust paint. they like to rust from the inside out.

Thanks all for the answers and tips. It makes much more sense now. Does anyone know if the guage and weight are similar?

you would have a really hard time telling the difference between the two. unless you knew it was offshore, you,d never know. they are well worth the price.
