A recent one on this forum got me wondering. It's probably a silly question, but if CPs have Chev engines, should they have Pontiac or Chev decals on them? Mine has Pontiac, but I've often wondered if it's the original motor.
The car came with a certificate from the local vehicle licensing agency for a "surrogate" engine number of V070818R, which I can see. The original number was 10829K1118. I haven't been able to decode either number. I thought the engine code sleuths on this site might be interested.
The other question for automotive innocents like me is, why does an engine need a surrogate number?
Hi Bigholden, Budgie from Shepparton, Vic. Your 327 looks just like the one in my new '65 Parisienne convertible. Waiting for search to see if it's the original motor.
