Good answer. Not the one I am looking for but that one would be correct as well, right? We never offered a 66 vacuum gauge on Canadian B bodies, did we?

Yeah, it would have been an easy addition. You know I had to go to the can a while back and thats when it struck me. Just goes to show when the deep thinking is done eh?
Now...having shown the pictures, I must say I was very surprised to see it in the car when I bought it. I have never seen another 66 grande with the map light....but I've only seen maybe 10 or 12 of the cars complete in my life...so I really haven't seen a lot of other 66 Grande's. It does look factory but ....I was told the original owner was a service manager at a GM store on the Lower Mainland and had Ordered the car from the factory for himself. He may have had the guys in his shop install it for his new car. The only other options on the car are Strato Bench and AM/FM radio, Rear Speaker. with no power antena? Every other AM/FM car I've seen had a power antena!! So there's my story and I'm stickin stuck
A '64 Parisienne CS has a map light, but a base '64 Parisienne has a map light delete plate.
Maybe lesser model '66 GPs had a delete plate also.

After considerable reading in the 58-70 Pontiac Master Parts catalogue, the judges (me!) stand by their decision that there is no factory map light available on a 66 Canadian Pontiac b body (other than the one mentioned by Vince in the rear view mirror.)
