Beaumont trivia question

This one could get dicey. I may get challenged on it, and I may be wrong. I offer as proof the Beaumont Master Parts Catalogue.

What is the first year tilt steering was offered in a Beaumont?

You agree with the parts book.

I am expecting an argument for 67 from someone, but no proof unless someone has some literature with it in there.

64 or 65 would be a logical guess since they share a dash with GTO/Lemans but no go for some reason.

Many guys put Lemans tilts into Beaumonts because of the common dash.

I saw quite a few parted out 65 Malibus, and a couple of Beaumonts, and scored some cool stuff from them, like AM/FM multiplex radios, floor shifter humps with holes, and tilt columns, but can't remember what came from what. One guy in Quesnel had quite a few of them, as he was a stock car racer, and kept using them as race cars. I grabbed what I could. This was in the mid 80's.

My thinking was that they probably came on the Chevelles in 67, and therefore the Beaumonts a year later. Not sure if that rationale is sound at all? A friend has a tilt from a GTO that he plans on putting in his 66 Beaumont

I just opened the Chevelle parts book. Interesting...........

First year for Canadian Chevelle tilt says 1966 with one exception. As mentioned below, it can not be had with 3 speed column shift.

I worded this wrong and what I am trying to say is tilt was available in a Canadian Chevelle before 66 but there is a special circumstance.

The person who gets this exception/cirucmstance also just figured out the exception for getting an overdrive in the other trivia question!!!

Good point.

True, you can't get a 3 speed manual on the column with tilt.

I will correct that to read 2 exceptions!

Ok, I must be making this too hard.

This will help, it's a good clue for both threads.

What did it take to get tilt in an Oshawa built 65 Chevelle?

Export?

YES YES YES!!!!!

The parts book says that you could order overdrive in 65 to 68 Oshawa built cars for export. Beaumont and B body Pontiacs had them available.  Can you believe that? Why wouldn't they offer it for Canada if it could be had in a car built in Canada but for sale overseas?

Also, to answer the tilt question, it says first year for Chevelle tilt in a Canadian car is 1966 but that a Chevelle built for export could have it in 1965. Again, why would they do that?

But I was in the Chevelle parts book and it says no tilt in a Canadian Chevelle for 65?

And that should have a Chevelle dash!!!

Good question. It just seemed odd to me that the "extras" could be put on a car that we build in Canada, sell the equivalent of in Canada and yet in Canada we can't buy them!
