We painted and installed the fiberglass bumpers over the weekend.
There wasn't quite enough room in the dash to mount the tach so we painted a 3 1/2" exhaust elbow and mounted it on top of the dash.
Unfortunately we're not going to have much time to work on the car for the next couple of weeks. One of our trucks was damaged in an accident so we'll be doing major bodywork to it.
I hope my buddy Griff is watching this build, He wouldnt recognize his old car at this point!
Once again, thanks for all the nice comments and yes, the car looks a little different now.
We were really hoping to have the car done for early June but we've been busy fixing a couple of trucks that were involved in accidents. It looks like the car won't be finished until some time in July. I'll keep posting updates as we go along.
That is a beautiful car, congratulations!!! Love the tach innovation and wheel combination, great job. Talk about intimidating....
X2 ... Oh ya!

ive been away for awhile and just came back to see whats been going on and found this thread what can i say that hasnt been already been said amazing work guys
After a long pause we're finally back working on the Pontiac.
When we were sure we couldn't get it done in time for the 348/409 shootout in Thompson Ohio we changed gears and put an engine together for the 55 Chevy.
On a positive note, the new 409 in the 55 ran great. We won our class and the car ran a best ever 10.19 Here's a link to a short video of some of the cars in the shootout.
We put our spare 409 back together to put into the Pontiac for this year. It makes about 550 to 575 hp so with a little luck it should push the Pontiac into the mid tens.
The plan is to build a more powerful 409 for next year.
But anyway, the engine's in place and we're starting to get things hooked up.
Beauty - can't wait to see some footage of it running down the track.
Yeah, We're anxious to get it running.
We installed the lexan windshield today. I was a little worried about this job because the new windshield comes oversize and you have to cut it down to fit. It went in just fine though. I think we'll save a total of about 80 lbs with the lexan windows.
We also installed the master cylinder and got started on plumbing the brakes. This is the first time I've used copper-nickle brake line. It's a little easier to work with than the regular metal stuff and it doesn't rust so I think I'll be using it from now on.
We're making progress. The brakes are working and most of the plumbing is done. The wiring is coming along and we're starting to install the aluminum floors.
We hope to have the engine running sometime this week.
