Well it goes something like this..I think..Quebec has now stopped giving Tax breaks to the farmers ( land owners ) for snowmobile access to their land ....so inturn the farmers UNION has denied snowmobilers access to all their land.Of the 15 snowmobile clubs here in Quebec 13 have thrown in the towel. So if anyone heads towards Quebec watch for a CUL- DE- SAC !!!
One of the greatest winter assets Quebec has. thousands of kms of trails. When you get up into the northern areas (amos, noranda) they hardly even clear the roads. Just scrape the top layer of snow off. Many times i had work up there, and the hotel parking lots were mobbed with 4x4s with empty trailers.
This is less about the tax break, and far more about the insult. Local farmers will be hard pressed by the local tourism to allow the trails with less or no benefit for allowing out of towners to muck up their land.
Here in Quebec Polititions have NO idea how to run ANYTHING.Never did.All they know how to do is RAISE TAXES!!!!! Though we have won the award of the most corrupt province ........Never saw that one coming..NOT
ITS NOT JUST QUEBEC HERE IN BC THE GOV DOES NOTHING TO PROMOTE THE SPORT. IN SPITE OF ALL THE $'S IN REVENUE DERIVED FROM SLEDS. CHECK OUT ANY PARKING LOT IN REVELSOKE BETWEEN OCTOBER AND JUNE. THE FEDS/PROVINCE/LOCAL REGIONAL DISTRICT JUST SPENT MILLIONS REHABBING AN OLD RAIL LINE BETWEEN CRANBROOK AND KIMBERLEY IN THE EAST KOOTENAY. SORRY FOLKS NO MECHANIZED USAGE PERMITTED!!!! DRIVE A SLED DOWN IT IN THE WINTER AND YOU WILL BE PUNISHED!! BAD BAD SNOWMOBILERS. SO FOR ALL THE MILLIONS SPENT, THE TRAIL IS UN USED FOR THE WINTER. SO INSTEAD WE RIDE THE MOUNTAINS, 5 FEET SO FAR ABOVE 6000 FEET......OH WELL.
