Just love that wagon, looks like no rust problems at all. Has F40 suspension . Its one of those cars you can slowly fix up as you drive it.

Wow, that is SO cool.

I was going to comment also on the F40. Another country car with F40. Is it just me or did the country dealers buy it more than the city dealers?

Hey Carl, what thinks you on the paint or not paint conundrum.
When new that paint just popped, the trim stood out against the dark background.
Now its kind of lost in all the fuzzy green.  I guess nobody does laquer paint any more?

If its original paint, buff the crap out of it, you will be amazed how well it will come back.
Original paint is the ultimate bragging right as far as im concerned

What would be the paint and trim colours?
Mine is Lagoon Aqua and Aqua inside ... original paint also.
I guess you know by now that I love your wagon! biggrin

Thats great Chris .  You can see in the picture of the taillight lenses where I crazy glued them together.  Consensus is so far to keep the paint original, so I will get out the buffer and see how it goes.  Going to pull engine and tranny and freshen, but won't  re paint.  I guess we can call it a rat-survivor.  The carpet was toast so will replace that, as well as door seals, window seals, and front seat upholstery.  Then the car is ready to drive, so it actually simplifies things.  If and when I repaint, it will mean total disassembly and a whole lot of work and time, so this way we get to drive and enjoy and finish work on the pro-street.

Agreed, I would not want to see you paint that car. It's only original once.

Exactly what I'm doing. I will do a bit of body work just to stabilize some areas, then colour-blow in some areas (scuff them up to blend in), and finally clear coat the whole car. I like the patina.
The interior is going to look brand new.
Eventually, all new/rebuilt original mechanicals. If I do change anything, it will be easily reversible.

The more I look at your wagon, the more I love it!

I'm glad to hear you are not going to paint it. I didn't want to say any thing as its not my car but I can tell you I sure wish I could of left my wagon's original paint alone but it was just to far gone. I loved they way it looked the paint was worn down to the primer on the hood and fenders and I loved it. And just think of the 8 or 10 grand you will save.

Have to agree with the everyone else, keep the paint as is and power polish. It might even be worth it to wet sand first. It can be less time on the polisher...

Another vote for keeping the original paint.... I love the "potential" that a car like that has. I think it is more appealing than if you actually restored it and made everything perfect.
