RE: 66' convert

We can help you decode the engine too if you like. This is a bit harder. You need to read the numbers stamped on the block on a little pad right in front of the passenger side cylinder head.

That's the easy part! then you need to get the engine casting number which is located on the block, down behind the driver's side cylinder head.

You will need a flashlight for that one.

And its bedtime in Manitoba right now but I'm sure someone else will continue with you here...

I will take a shot in the dark on this one. The emblems are well placed. Do you or can you get a picture of the the cowl and the vin tags. I have run across this on a 65 once where a fellow took a 65 SD and a custom and made one but kept the custom cowl tags. You could have a SD there and if the 4spd stuff was kept it could be a M-20 car. Does the 4 spd tunnel look cut up? Have a look.

Welcome aboard. What a great car! Will you restore it back to it's original colours?

Welcome Brew!
A nice car!
When you say that you are going to restore it back to original, I think it's a good call.  Only 274 produced, and less still standing.
If you change up the original drive train, hang on to it.
Mine was last on the road in 1986 also.

Hey, welcome to the site! (I've been away for the past few days, so this is a nice surprise as I too have a 66' rag.)
As per the conversion to the standard, I'm guessing that the console, seats and steering wheel may have all come from the same car as I believe the seats and steering wheel look to be from a '67?  Might be the same story with the interior door panels?  (So if you order new '66 seat skins, don't be surprised when they look a little different as the '66 have a vertical patern vs horizontal.)  Also, my side mirror is round, not retangular, although I'm not sure if they are different on with different Beaumont models, or if the retangular ones are from a Chevelle?  Great to see reverse lights in one piece too!
I look forward to hearing and seeing more about your car! (You're going to love it here!!!)

One other thing...
As you look for parts for your Beaumont, be mindful that some parts are common to '66 Chevelles (ie seat covers, steering wheel), some parts are common to the GTO/Tempest (ie dash parts, roof switch), and some parts are exclusive only to the '66 Beaumont (ie grille, taillights, reverse lights, parking lights and horn button).
Personally...I wouldn't want it any other way!

Great info, Thanks
Many years ago my father bought a 66' in very bad shape he had a uy take all the chrome and lights etc. from it and put into box's ...... now the hunt begins to locate these box's ...........yikes. I'm getting the fealing that in any of my travels if I locate any old beaumonts that buying them (asuming the price is good) and putting in the back forty for parts would be a good thing.

Is that a chevelle horn button? The door panels look to have the carpet/fake carpet on the bottom which was common to either the Chevelle or GTO I believe? Looks like the original radio might still be in there as well which would be very nice! (Factory matt's or aftermarket?)

The original radio is still in there and works fine. as for the carpet not sure who ever rebuilt this car in the early 80's or late 70's did a good job it has all the SD emblems on it. I have a set if front fender gills that I may put on. I am interested once we take it apart to see if there are any hole sin the fender for the gills.

Brew. Here is a document that might be of interest to you. It is a page from an older Chevelle/Beaumont Club publication. If it is not clear enough to read, PM me with an email address and I'll forward it on to you that way...

You know Elroy, if you didn't happen to own one of my dream cars worship.gif I'd be forced to think for a day or two and post some kind of witty comeback  confuse

And Brew, you're only a few thousand posts away from becoming a Canadian Pontiac Superstar!

At that point, we would consider making you a "Carl". Very few are chosen for that honour, and as a matter of fact, one of the imitation Carls on here is actually that because the title was self appointed...

And getting back to your car, I'm sure I"m not the only one who would love to see some daylight shots of your car.

We've only begun Elroy....

You better start looking over your shoulder!

Brew, did you happen to look for engine numbers yet? I'm pretty curious, I have to admit!

Yes there is, although I've heard mixed reviews on the quality of these aftermarket pieces.  (I believe it's the same tack as that found in a 65 Tempest?  Someone here is likely to chime in to confirm/deny.)

The factory Beaumont tach for 64-67 is the same as 64 GTO/Lemans/Tempest. It is the short sweep style.

I'm at work right now but I know at some point I have posted a pic of it and I think some other people have as well. Maybe try searching "GTO tach" on here and see if it shows. If not, I have a pic saved at home.

Welcome B.C. Brew, we have a place up at Likely, south of you, so maybe we can hook up in the future for a Beaumont meet and greet, there's bound to be others up there. Great project, I like the grey.
