"Undesireable 2 door"

So you have what most car guys call an "Undesireable Car". Do you repaint it a custom color, and give it a "Prostreet" look? I am thinking of pulling the 2 horns, leaving the bezels and hooking 2 hoses up for "air intake"?

You can pro street it disbelief or repaint it a "factory color"  (Red lol) biggrinbiggrin

and restore it, and keep a part of "Canadian History" alive for your kids, and their kids...

my opinion N/C

My problem is I can't get a base /clear original dark gold. I have to go waterbased poly or acrylic waterbased enamel?

Does anyone know if a pearl is available in "early factory colors", that is my first choice. I would like to keep it the dark gold in a pearl? I can't decide, I have the paint shop for 1 week over Christmas, you guys are not helping much, (LOL)

1.   I would have thought that someone could mix a base/clear VERY CLOSE to your original color

2.  I like bright colors..   If you are going to take it to a show, and "show it off" bright colors attract a crowd....  I love red orange yellow

I'd just ignore "ignore.gifmost car guys" and love it! The other 99.5% will know its way cooler than what they are driving! Restore it!....it is already desirable to some, and it will fall into the desirable category headbang.gif for the masses sson enough in my opinion.

Thanks, for the feed back, OK so I keep it dark gold, thanks you are correct, original is always better. THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH, you are more help than the wife, she likes dodge pink!

OK next question, do I add tail pipes, right now I am off the headers, 3" to the rear axle, dropping to the sides, with Thrush stainless 40's?

1) Thanks Professeur, They are just ahead now, and tilted slightly to the sides, but touches a little underneath, thought tail pipes might work to strenghen it.

2)Carl, or Shirley, I would never have guessed, is that a factory color..... (LOL)biggrinbiggrin

3) Over or under the axle, will a mandral be required, seems awful tighthmm

Original tailpipe outlets on a Canadian '70 were the same as a '70 big Chevy; turndown at the rear bumper / rear pan towards the out edges of the trunk drop-off.

Yes and often you will find notches or shallow cutouts in the rear valance panel on both sides to accommodate the pipes. I recall standing under a 2+2 Hillar just brought in from out west at the shop and calling him on the phone and telling him this. The car was in for duals as 400 sbc came with single if you can believe it and we were both surprised about the valance. The thing about this was it was perfect for placing the Chevelle SS chrome extensions that were going on the car. It made for a real OEM look.

Odd you mention the rear valance on the '70's as everyone I have had, including my current one that had a 6, has the dual cutouts........ They must of all had them...
