as you all know Ive had a few injuries from working on the parisienne i thought it would be good to run over them lol ( i'm really bored) well first when i get the car i slammed the hood on my fingers then i broke my big toes when a jack failed next was a concussion from a engine hoist then there was another concussion from the drive shaft and now this week i managed to burn all the inger prints off my right hand good times... not even mentioning all the split nails and gashes im kinda hoping i don't hurt myself anymore....
Sorry to hear of your troubles Johnathan but glad you're on the mend!. On the bright side you do have a small window of opportunity before the fingerprints grow back?.
Funny on the car guy tattos Carl!. I have a few I can refer to by year, make and model!.

Hitting thumb with hammer or burning fingers with torch or on your back under car and spark goes down sleave is nothing compared to the blood flying from a 10000 rpm zip blade, man it cuts quicker than a hot knife through butter. I think it's the scar tissue thats holding my fingers together and my yearly tetnus shot . Did I mention I do my own stiches .
I remember all my major ones.. Man, had many and still do!!
My biggest near miss is removing the torque convetor off my Rag when I was about your age, lying on the ground removing the last bolt and the converter fell in a split second and landed near my nose........... Whew... Lot more careful after that!!!!
you need to post pictures of these character-adding misshaps for all to see! One time when i was 16 or 17 i spraypainted both me eyes....docter wrapped them up for 24 hours while my dad razzed me good. Then my hotrod buddy came over and razzed me.Then my mom,and my bros.Still doin it today, they got butterfly bandages now!
You have just about had all the major injuries working on a car except hiting your head on the hood latch. I hate that one. Every time I do it I almost knock myself out. I am sure you will do that before your car is done.
My hands are so cut up, when I got finger printed a few years back the cop thought I had damaged my finger prints on purpose, I kindly informend him thats what happens when you have a real job, he didnt like the comment, was never really able to get a good print!
P.S. its a long story im not a criminal my good friends on the CP no what crap I went threw about 7 years ago! LOL
Jonathan, wev'e all been there before, but the best advise I can give you is "THINK" before you attempt a job, is there a chance I may get hurt ?? is it safe??? & if not make it safe before you do it. Think " MIKE HOLMES" make it RIGHT!! May not stop all the injuries, but if it cuts them down then it works!!! I nearly lost a foot back in the 70's helping take out a 389 out of a 62 Pontiac G/P bolt broke on lift chain, engine dropped back into bay, my foot was on X member, engine landed on mounts, & I was able to just slide my foot out between the harmonic Balancer & the cross member!! "WHEW" that was close, now know to use a grade 8 bolt in that situation, not just "any old bolt" laying around!!!!

One of my best friends had his thumb bitten off by a rabbit! Well, okay, it WAS the alternator on a V.W. Rabbit that just happened to be in full rotation at the time. Another friend had his thumb cut off by a small engine in full rotation. This being said, YA REALLY GOTTA PAY ATTENTION to what yer doing and your surroundings Kiddo! BIGTIME! It takes LESS than a spit-second for life- altering events to happen. ESPECIALLY when working on vehicles whether they're running or not. Hope you mend up soon so you can get right back at it.
lol frank i never stoped after a burned my fingers (welding accedent) i got back to work cutting btw my frame is completely done but so is school for the next 2 weeks soo no pictures till january
I dropped a cast iron 3 spd on my nuts once while changing a tranny. They say you can lift cars in a emergency, so lets say I dead lifted that bugger off of me and could of shot it to the moon!
too funny Jon ! I drilled thru the top of my hand when i was 16 drilling out rusted screws on the signal lite of my 66 Chevelle, still have the scar. Also cut my thumb wide open putting factory cruise control in my 72 Cheyenne Super, thot I would tape it up and leave it for a few days, NOT good ! had to get it stiched up with no freezing as it was all infected ..... OUCH Maybe don't hold a little bracket and drill thru it with a bit that sticks and spins the bracket thru your hand...
... probably hurt myself a lot worse playing hockey though, 2 busted ribs, 11 screws and a plate in my ankle....
All jokes aside be careful. I've been in this trade for 20 years and I've seen allot of injuries. Thankfully only minor ones to myself. Be careful. A battery can blow up and blind you, an engine can take your fingers off and a falling car can kill you. Think about safety while you are working on your car. I hate hearing about guys getting hurt. I've seen a few bad ones I wish I hadn't.
