I work for a chemical distrbutor, so we handle many types of product's. I mostly handle bulk liquid's. We ship lot's of methanol that is used in pipelines to help keep the flow going. I work out of our Edmonton plant but also travel to Fort St John BC and Grande Prairie Alberta when we are short staffed. I spent the last three week's in GP and will be heading back up there the first week in January. In the winter 12 hour day's are very common as well as six day week's. Basically I work much more than the average person! Water treatment is big in the spring from the snow run off.
Will you hate me if I chime in as a retired guy who doesn't work at alll anymore, much less this week or next week, eh?
Dave
x 2 Carl Off the 23rd and 31st. January 3rd is my first day of retirement after 30.5 years working for county government. I've had 3 job offers already after constantly being asked: "What are you going to do?" I tell them that I will be hibernating in my pole barn until spring!
Thankfully we're shut for the whole week between the magical days.. By choice I'll be working at least a couple of the days as it's great to get end o' the year paperwork done when closed and no phones or people distractions etc..
You retired guys are my heroes and living the dream!

The company instead of giving us Turkeys held a turkey lunch today. I guess that's better than nothing. It was one of those deals where you line up and there's the food in serving trays and some guy gives you mashed potatoes out of an ice cream scoop. You got a piece of ham as well as some turkey, dressing and cranberries. There was salad as well. You could have a can of Coke or Sprite. As we were eating one of the managers says "I think we can safely say this is much better than we can make at home!"
Obviously he has never had dinner at my house.
The manager of the body shop we deal with stopped in and gave me a Christmas card. Inside was a $50 gift card for dinner at Kelseys and a 25 dollar Cineplex gift card! He's a great guy.
Wow, that is hard to fathom, I guess those of us with wives that can cook are the lucky ones. I have never had a meal outside my home that was better than my wife's except of course when we go to her Mom's.
I would put a Christmas Turkey and all the fixings at the top of Mary's repertoire . Can't wait !
Neither can I! Whenever I pick up my son the first thing out of his mouth is "What's for dinner?" and a few minutes later he's say "Man, I'm really excited for dinner!". Connie has really inspired him to learn to cook. She's puts him to work in the kitchen quite often. He is getting to be quite good at it. He took food and nutrition this year at school and enjoys it. I swear every night dinner is like being at a fancy restaurant here. I've learned eating well (and healthy) doesn't have to be expensive. You haven't lived until you've tried Connie's white asparagus with creme sauce!

Did they give you a receipt, so that you can declare it, "a value" in lieu of bonus? lol
My grand daughter is 19 and her boyfriend is 22 from Albany N.Y.
He just got a job, with Price-Waterhouse in Boston, in Sept.. Since hes only been there a short time, his Christmas bonus was "only " $5000.00
I work the 24 until 4:00 and don't go back until the 6th. I get to play lego or dolls or what ever my three kids want to do. PERFECT! I promise I won't think about work once!

Wow, that's pretty cool. Gotta be some perks with the high stress jobs...
